Locking up Pulock Toews and Barzal trades with COL and SJS
General comment - there wasn't a single player traded in 2013 to be CBO'd by another team. In 90% of ACGM's I see players moved to get CBO'd by another team.
Good chance the league doesn't want guys traded in order to bought out by another team (likely don't want one team getting several get-out-of-jail free cards).
Also, with the current state of the league, I would think owners would be more reluctant than ever to burn millions, or tens of millions of dollars to move up 36 spots in the draft, or get a 6th round pick.

Kind of a dick thing to say no? For someone that doesn't like people being mean to others, you don't seem to practice what you preach.
Now lets talk DeBrusk/Meier. Last 3 years, 5v5 at a per 60 looks because its probably the most accurate way to measure players
Goals/60
TM: 1.06
JD: 1.01
Assist/60
TM: 1.12
JD: 0.94
iSCF/60
TM: 12.01
JD: 8.13
iHDCF/60
TM: 5.59
JD: 3.67
Rebounds Created/60
TM: 1.33
JD: 0.85
Takeaway/60
TM:2.24
JD: 2.12
Hit/60
TM: 6.59
JD: 3.32
Shot Block/60
TM: 2.15
JD: 1.46
Meier per 60 is the better goals scorer, setup man, generates more scoring chances and high danger scoring chances. He also generates more rebounds while having slightly better takeaway numbers, but doubling Jake in the Hit/60 department and shot blocking department. They are not equal, Meier (while not elite) is better than DeBrusk.

Ryan Johansen hasn't even cracked more than 15 goals the past few seasons
and is on pace for 43 points. And guess what. He is getting paid 8mil

Not a Habs fan, but they already have three top-6 centers and one other coming. If anything, they could trade one of Domi or Kotkaniemi. They have three top-6 wingers and they need another one. Domi played this season with Weal, which isn't great. I think that they only have two prospects on the wing. I'm pretty sure they'd prefer to keep Tatar than trade him for a not needed player. And then there is Juulsen, a prospect on a position (RHD) where their NHL players are above 30. If anything, both teams don't match well for a trade.

I'm curious why everyone has seemed to ignore the /60 numbers I posted comparing the two that showed Meier was better.

I like to think of "elite" as the top 1%, but I everyone seems to have a different definition of elite.

Jake DeBrusk is a top 6 forward.

Timo Meier>DeBrusk in terms of playmaking and presence on the ice, Urho>Ferraro, a san Jose early 2nd >Boston late 2nd. Also, Marchand>>Gaudreay but you're getting Marchand at ages 32-36 while Gaudreau is at age 26-29. Pasta and Bergeron are more to Boston atm but Gaudreau is everything for Calgary. That trade is off and so is the Marchand one i stated

This is so bad for Buffalo what are you talking about, "good for both teams".
Eichel is younger, cheaper and better than Tavares, and Reinhart is better than Johnsson or Kapanen.

I liked how he sort of trashed Domi in a comment saying he's a candidate to regress and any team that'd give anymore then that would be making a bad trade but then he signed him to a $6M contract.. Lol

That's not enough for someone to take Alzner off your hands and not sure if anyone would have interest in Byron, I know Habs fans love the guy but he's on the other side of 30, has had some injuries, has term and most teams are capped out, I think Byron remains a Hab for next season.

Last year that wasn’t the case. Sure there will be players that succeed but as for now it not looking to be a memorable years.

You need to go look at the Domi trade to Pittsburgh that someone made on here, you tell me if that's better, worse or the same as what I'm suggesting.. Lol
I get it man I just think it's too early to tell and a lot of these analysts don't know as much as they think they do, they just love to gear themselves talk, really wonder if some of them have ever laced up a pair of skates.. Lol

Totally get you. We've have 2 totally different problems. For Buffalo you have some incredible top talent, but nothing really substantial in support. Whereas in Minnesota we've drafted some really good support players...but lack the top talent necessary to get anywhere near cup contender...
Here's a little bit of solace for you. Between 2010 and 2014 the Oilers had 3 #1 picks, a #3 and a #7 pick. They could've had Hall, Draisaitl, Kucherov, Nurse,, and Vasilevskiy. Instead, as of today, they're left with Draisaitl and Nurse. Still a pretty good combo but imagine the dynasty they could've built?
However, the Oilers still have something we don't...
