Says the commissioner. Players on the IR can't be moved without permission from the commissioner.
The Meier deal had this same issue. There was a player in the AHL who was injured that was involved in the trade, that's why the deal took so long to be announced after it was first reported.
Unless you can think of an example/time when a player on the IR was traded, I'm 90% sure this is an ineligible trade.

You can't trade players (Anton Forsberg and Justin Danforth) when they are on the IR. You can only trade players who are injured if they are on the LTIR.

I think you're alone with this take. The immediate impact he would bring should overlook the fact that in 6 years this contract could look bad. Tampa was in a similar boat with McDonagh last offseason and they found a way to make it work it still be just as competitive. The cap is also expected to rise $10M in 3 seasons, who knows how much higher it can get in those 3-5 years after?

Luke Schenn with 50% ret. could honestly go for a 3rd if a team was desperate enough for a Dman. Why are the Canucks adding their own to bring in Cody Ceci? This doesn't help them in any way, they can't even flip Ceci for a 4th without retaining his salary.

IMO, the best landing spot for Vitali is the Habs (VAN is second). He gets Top 6 minutes and can play a big role in your future. Pitlick can still be moved, however, neither Ottawa nor New York has any need for him.

Debatable, his worth will probably be whatever the first deal that is offered to Ottawa (It's really dependent on how badly a team needs depth for the P-offs, could even be a pick that's a few years out). I think Pierre cares more about doing right by Brassard than worrying about a 5th-7th-round pick. At the end of the day, that pick will probably end up being nothing, maybe a future trade chip if we're lucky.
I just picked the Isles cause they could use some cheap depth and it would be a new team, but there's a handful of teams that could use him.

Then we will be enjoying another season of questionable board bounce plays, pucks getting thrown to the middle of the ice for no reason, baby checks, infrequent point shots, missed passes on the blue line, sloppy defending... the list just goes on. No one is taking this man for $4.5M and the Sens aren't moving him with a first to get that done. There's no reason not to eat 2M in cap for 1 season so we can call someone up who actually could use the NHL playing time.

If San Jose is trading Meier they aren't taking a gamble on a 22y/o AHL Dman that 'might' have a bright future. You either get yourself a damn good prospect, or you get a pick and hope to strike gold. Johansson can certainly be a part of the deal, but not the main prospect that you bring in to get people excited about your future.

WeegarChychrunZaitsev Trade fixed
If I were Calgary, why would I do this? Sure I get Chychurn, but I've got Weegar locked up for 9 years (including this season). Why would I give up my 1st Round Pick this year, in what is being talked about as the best draft since 2015, just so I can bring in another new defenseman who might test free agency in 2026 when he becomes a UFA? And then on top of that, I'm giving up more assets to help Ottawa get Weegar.

Low cap hit? His cap hit is $4.5M. "Effective Cap Hit" is showing how much he still needs to be paid this season. If it was only $1.3M he would've been gone last summer for a 7th. As a Sens fan, I don't want to rag on him too much but he is straight-up ****. He eats a chunk of your Cap Space, takes a roster spot away, and plays like he has lost his passion for hockey. If you're moving Zaitsev and a pick for FC with no retention, you're looking at a Monahan 2.0 trade.

3 way trade Good for every team
If I’m Arizona, I say no. Only because I feel you haven’t given the expected return for these guys. This looks like a lowball offer that would get the trade talks flowing. For Vejmelka I would expect a protected 1st Round Pick or a goalie prospect (Dustin Wolf? Mads Sogaard?) and a future 2nd/3rd Round Pick. If you want me to take on a year of Zaitsev at $4.5M with no retention that is at the bare minimum another 1st round pick. Then for Chychurn, you're looking at another 1st and some prospects (preferably 2 B or 1 A tier). The guys you added, Branny and Soko, don’t exactly fit the needs of a rebuilding team. In Arizona’s case, they would be a bit too old (24 and 23 next season).
Also, I know this trade should be all sens, but surely the Flames will move something else whether it’s a 4-7th Round Pick or a young prospect. It seems odd to think Ottawa does all the work and Calgary just sits back and (technically) gets Chychurn 1-for-1.

If you get a chance to bring on a stud like Andersson, you do it. He'd automatically be the best dman on the team, at a stellar cap hit. That being said, CAL hangs up the phone on this deal.</div></div>
I know Andersson is a great defenseman, but he isn't a good fit with Ottawa's cap situation. If they did this the sens would be cap-strapped. Pinto and ADB need deals, combined you're looking at about $12M+. That would leave them with ~$3M in cap space (assuming Motte, Talbot, Zaitsev, Holden, and Brannstrom all get moved or don't get extended between now and the offseason). It doesn't make sense to bring on more cap to fix a problem that could be resolved internally.

Pierre Dorions Last Stand Mark Stone replacement for Vegas Ottawa gets a DG
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>budgeteam</b></div><div><strong>OTTAWA</strong>
-The Senators cannot re-sign Debrincat long term due to the salary cap.
-They need a #3 D and a cost controlled 1A/1B type goalie to play with Forsberg.
-They need to dump Zaitsev.
-They use the Debrincat/Talbot trades to subsidize the cost of acquiring those two pieces.
-One of Thompson or JBD has to be involved in the trade due to waiver status next season.
-Both pieces the Senators get are cost controlled at a good cap hit.
<strong>VEGAS</strong>
-Stone is going on LTIR after back surgery.
-Vegas has been tied to Talbot since they need help in net.
-Debrincat gives Vegas flexibility. He can either be a rental for the playoffs. In which case, they can turn around and flip his rights at the draft to recoup the 1st round pick they gave up.
-If it turns out that Stone is still out next season, they can sign Debrincat to a 1 year deal as Stone’s short term replacement.
<strong>ARIZONA</strong>
-The Coyotes get two 1sts (both top 10 protected), two 2nds, and a young bottom pairing defender for Chychrun, and Vejmelka. They take Zaitsev as part of the trade.
-A side benefit is that this certainly helps the tank of the Coyotes.</div></div>
Wait you're not joking, you actually made this to be a serious trade?
Ottawa can easily sign ADB to a 3-8-year deal for $9M+ as he's worth, they will have cap flexibility as long as they trade Zaitsev and a high-round pick for FC. The cap is expected to go up $10M in the next 3 seasons. Even If they don't get him on a max term right away, they have the flexibility and control over him to get a bridge deal until the spike in the cap and then sign him to the biggest deal in franchise history. Ottawa still has 1 year of RFA on him, there's no reason to make any sort of moves with him before new ownership this summer. Let him have a full season in Ottawa before making such a big trade.
You have Ottawa trading an arm, a leg, a kidney, a few toes, and an ear for Chychurn and Vejmelka. Forsberg can be the sens starter next season while they sign a backup UFA goalie on a 1-year deal. There are still Leevi Merilainen and Mads Sogaard coming up the pipeline that can be the tandem of the future as your 1A/1B.
Sens are also giving up an RHD prospect for another LHD which they have an abundance of (Kleven, Chabot, Sanderson, Brannstrom...). Arizona trade rumors have said they want a package with Pinto or Greig which neither are here. This is just a nonsensical trade that benefits no one but the Arizona Coyotes.
I do agree however Talbot to Vegas would be a good fit, but Ottawa would more than likely get Laurent Brossoit and a mid-round pick

Ottawa says no. Although this looks like a realistic trade, Sanderson and Hamonic have been Ottawa's best-pairing defensemen this season. In any other universe, this would go through but Hamonic is playing some of the best hockey in his career alongside Sanderson, it would be surprising if Hamonic doesn't get extended for at least 1 year on the Sens as the 7th Dman.
I think you forgot the number of prospects the Sens have in Belleville that can come up next year and take his spot ( Jacob Bernard-Docker, Tyler Kleven, and Lassi Thomson are 3 good examples).

Wacky Offseason
This is atrocious, this is just setting Ottawa up for another disappointing season where they don't make a push for the playoffs but also don't give themselves a chance at a Top prospect.
To start Brannstrom is worth more than a 4th. His points aren't showing just how big of a stride he's improved defensively this season as a 3rd pairing. He's been paired with guys like Holden and Zaitsev and has shown more confidence than when he played with Chabot last season.
Why are they trading Joseph after just one season? When he played with Motte and Pinto that was one of the more productive lines. Sure they are likely losing Motte but a guy like Ridly Greig can easily get bumped to the 3rd line and make that line dangerous.
A lot of the Sens' issues can be solved internally except goaltending which was never really addressed. Sogaard looks like he will be a solid 1B goaltender but he still needs 1 more season of AHL development. I'm not sure about you, but I wouldn't feel overly confident having my backup goalie on a potential wildcard team be a rookie whose numbers regressed in the AHL. It makes more sense for Ottawa to spend the money you used for Walman and Engvall on a 1-year deal for a veteran goalie (like Raanta or Khudobin).
Lastly, the sens aren't going to be a Cap team until Pinto, Sanderson, and Greig are locked up. Spending $4.9M on Pinto after 1 good season is way too risky, a 2-3 year bridge deal around the $3.25M-$3.75M range makes sense for both sides. Pinto can get paid if the cap increases in 3 years as expected. Also, why aren't they getting any picks in this year's draft???

Florida breaks at the deadline gives up an arm and a leg for one year of Toews

That's a good point! But I also don't see how Florida lets Montreal walk away with 2 top 10 picks in this monster draft. They will never be able to live that down, this will be a 2020 San Jose situation all over again. Florida should be doing everything in their power to ensure they don't let this happen. Imagine 10 years from now saying Connor Bedard was traded for ****ing Ben Chariot. The memes would never leave that team. Even if Montreal ended up with the 20-24th pick in the draft, there are still a few gems they can get. Florida also likes to do these dumb trades that ruin their future and forces them to be in win-now mode.

Seattle commits to a playoff push at the deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GeneralLandro</b></div><div>Verbeek could have claimed Tolvanen if he wanted to do he had no value
Name value I think we still get a 1st for Klingberg</div></div>
I 100% agree that Verbeek would have claimed him if they wanted him a month ago, however, this is a fictional scenario where between now and the trade deadline I can see Tolvanen impressing the likes of ANA, CBJ, or another rebuilder which will allow SEA to dump him for a veteran player to help push for a playoff berth. His small sample size with SEA looks promising, 3p in 3gp. He reminds me of Anthony Duclair, who needs to have a strong top 6 role and play significant PP minutes to be affected on a team. Seattle can offer him that if he stays long-term, but he still has value around the league.
And Klingberg has been a shell of his old self. If he keeps up his current play I can't see him going for more than a 3rd if there was no salary retention. He would be a nice addition to SEA, providing some playoff experience and a veteran presence as long as they can get the 2017-21 Klingberg and not continue his 2021-23 Klingberg.

Thoughts Habs move from 6 to 2 in draft
To move from a 6th overall pick to the 2nd overall pick in a draft that can have multiple franchise players is going to need a lot more than a ****ty 3rd-4th line winger and a fourth. Montreal would need to trade at least both of their first-round picks just for Columbus to consider answering the phone.
