My upset pick is Winnepeg over Vegas- I think Hellebucyk could steal a series and the Jets have playmakers up front. I also don't think Vegas is as good as their record indicates, and also have major question marks in net. My concern with Winnepeg however is how unbelievably bad their secondary scoring is. They're gonna need Connor/Scheifele/Hellebucyk to carry them.

I also think Seattle is a better team than a lot of people give them credit for, and they'll put up a strong fight against Colorado, but will ultimately fall short. Same goes for Florida against my Bruins.

A lot of people seem to be picking the Isles to upset Carolina. I think that will be a grueling, 7 game, extremely scrappy and low scoring series, but I think the Canes are still a better team despite their clear struggles without Svechnikov. I have them winning in a hard-fought 7 game series.

A lot of people also seem to be picking the Rangers over the Devils, a series that is pretty much a toss-up in my opinion. The Devils being the home team is huge because the atmosphere is going to be electric for both sides. The Rangers look better on paper, but I think the Devils are actually a more well-rounded team, and they are one of the best puck-possession teams in the league. I also think the Rangers rely on Igor Shesterkin a lot more than they would like to, and to be honest I think Shesterkin gets a little overhyped sometimes. Shesterkin had major struggles early in last year's Pittsburgh series, and I think the Devils have more ways to beat you than last year's Penguins did. Give me the Devils in 7.

I think this is finally the year that Toronto makes it over the hump and beats Tampa. They came extremely close last year, and since then the Leafs have improved while the Bolts have gotten worse. I also think Toronto is better suited for playoff hockey this year as their a more physical team than they were last year, although they're still not as good as Tampa in that department. I have Toronto battling back from down 3-2 to win that series in 7.
