three primary reasons:
1. age. he'll be 30 at the beginning of next season, and generally speaking sign seven years for a forward that age is a really bad idea, especially at $9M
2. the player - I think he's very good, but I don't think he's that 40 goal guy, I think he's the beneficiary of playing with crosby.
3. the fit. look at those wingers. LW is where you're investing your money? doesn't make much sense.

I have been saying all year, they have 4 top 9 centers in the lineup every night. It should not be that big of a priority. LD is a far bigger mess.

A physical 4th liner would be a nice addition as well.
Chychrun for top 4 LD? Do they have the assets?</div></div>
Joel Eriksson EK. Try to pry Middleton in the same deal.
I like Chyc, but bad knee and going to cost more than what he’s worth. I’d look elsewhere.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jwirb12</b></div><div>From the outside looking in I feel roslovic is similar to Debrusk maybe a tad below him but same streaky player. He would be playing wing. Think his center days are over.
Texier is odd. Showed flashes a few years ago then he what took a year off? Think he just needs to get out of there maybe a buy low situation</div></div>
Roslovic feels like a guy who’ll win a couple Cups just being a random utility forward into his early 30s, signing onto contenders for short deals. A pleasure to watch skate, but you’ll tear your hair out watching him try to make plays. Honestly, seems like a good target for Boston. Half-retained for a second feels fair.
Texier, I don’t know. He had some massive personal tragedies and took a year off to stay close to home (he’s from Grenoble in France, which is very close to Geneva). The org did everything it could to support him. He’s clearly struggled in his return, but his Jackets teammates also seem to adore him, if social media is any indication. I think they give him another year before moving him, because the defensive forward is there even if the points aren’t.
Jackets team isn’t much of a corpse to pick this season. Roslovic and most of the defense are the only obvious trade candidates. The rest of the roster is kids and puzzle pieces.

Roslovic is a poor center but an excellent winger. No hockey IQ to speak of but good at hockey, if that makes sense. Texier is having such a strange year: passes eye test, has good defensive metrics, somehow cannot seem buy a point.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>Yeah, it would be great

Might have to add a prospect like Ostlund, or maybe even Savoie…. but tough to say
Could be worth overpaying if we can convince Boston of something reasonable</div></div>
I wouldn't mind over playing, I just done see Boston moving 2 NHL players at the deadline and mitts does not have the Same value to them next season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>Idk I don't see the trade fit. If Ottawa's moving him, it's to address the blueline right now, not with more futures. Carlo would obviously fit the need Ottawa has, but why would Boston do that? Drake's a great young player with an even better contract, they need full value with that deal, and I don't think they get that from a good team who can only offer late 1sts and has the worst prospect pool in the league. Even if Lysell is involved, that doesn't cure what ales this team. He's too far out to help them in a meaningful way at the NHL level. And imo, flipping that return to get that Dman elsewhere doesn't work either because I think Batherson's just the better asset to offer in the first place.
I think Ottawa should definitely be open to moving him if it makes sense, but I don't see the vision for Boston</div></div>
I would only do it for Carlo or Swayman from boston personally. Not a fan of Lysell

I think batherson is one of the guys that’s almost untouchable based solely on the contract. It would have to be an offer they can’t refuse and I don’t see why the bruins or anyone would do that. Just my 10 cents

Certainly a 1first rounder a 2 second and Lysell . Or I know he is probably not avaible but Carlo can be a good feat for the sens

BOS not pursuing top C options during the off-season would be extremely disappointing, especially with all the cap space they have.

Hanifin would be a tremendous add and you could put Lohrei as a 3rd line defender. That isn’t a bad thing at all. I’d almost rather see what Regula could do at right D and use Grz as the 7th.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jwirb12</b></div><div>Mcavoy needs his Jake muzzin next to him like doughty had. Obviously this is just my thinking but lohrei and Mcavoy don’t mesh together as they both want to jump into the play. You assemble this dcore to have for the next 4 years and eventually lindholm with natural old age will be taken over by lohrei</div></div>
Hanifin isn’t Muzzin though.
Muzzin was a shutdown dman who blocked a lot of shots and hit hard.
Hanifin is just a more refined and better lohrei.
He’s a 2 way dman who’s more offensively inclined, that’s why he was partner with Tanev for so long before andersson
If Boston wants a Muzzin for mcavoy then they should sign someone cheaper for 1-2 yrs like martinez or Brodie, their games better reflect what Muzzin did for doughty
We also have to plan for lindholm to be a top 4 dman till his contract is up, I doubt boston plays a 6.5 mill dman in the bottom pair playing less then 20 minutes a night, if anything lindholm should just become straight defensive like he was in Anaheim and become mcavoys muzzin

But this trade could work for both sides.</div></div>
Considering every season one of mcavoy or Carlo or both go down with an injury for usually 8+ games it could help having a guy who can play top 4 minutes and not be out of place.
I don’t mind fabbro as a solid 2 way guy for us.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jwirb12</b></div><div>No I have it how I want it. They want Merk to be a center we are about to get our first taste if that is a real possibility or not. If not yeah they can be switched.
As for hanafin. I agree 100% on this blocks lohrei for a top 4 role and I don’t love that. BUT it is rumored around the NHL that every team in the league believes hanafin wants to end up in Boston this offseason and that is hurting his trade deadline value. If he wants to be here and is at no more than 7mil maybe 6.5 I think you have to pull the trigger on it and eventually lindholm will move down the lineup and lohrei will move up. I don’t see the bruins getting a true 1C on the market they will let the kids develop. So bolster the strength of the team which is defense.</div></div>
Makes sense just didn’t see Merkulov listed as a Center

I think the whole "Sens aren't moving Brady and have absolutely no reason to move Brady, and there has been no indication that they will want to move Brady, or that he wants out" thing has been pretty well-established, so we'll pretend to be in a world where they do have reason to trade him, for the purposes of this discussion. I think the bones of the trade makes sense, Sens will want a goalie who is supposed to be a top-tier reliable goalie talent, switch out Forsberg in the process, and get another top/middle 6 winger option in return to fill the lineup, and a prospect as well. Put aside random value because we could talk about 1st round picks and blah blah blah all day long. But I'm just not really sold on DeBrusk or Swayman outside of the Bruins and their systems. I could easily be wrong, but Swayman is just not the basket that I would want to put all my eggs into

After watching some interviews after the draft, Ryan Nadeau (head of amateur scouting for Bs) said after being asked about not having a first round pick, "there were a couple times throughout the day where we think we might have one, so we had to be prepared."
So this makes me think Don Sweeney his keeping quite a few things close to his vest. I think we will see some moves.

Hello old friend
If Novak is traded, it will be to grab a late 1st rounder to capitalize on his great season since no one knows if he can replicate it (some gm would pay that price for the potential at an 800k contract). I would not attach a 1st to him just to get DeBrusk and a defenseman that NSH doesn’t need.
