Year 2 - Trading the Officer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tintin</b></div><div>This is a 36 year old goalie 2 years remaining at what ends up being a 6.5m cap hit that you're expecting a 1st rd pick in return for? From a Devils team that will be squarely in their window of contention and will completely strapped for cap with extensions given to Holtz, Mercer, Luke Hughes and possibly Simon Nemec?
No matter how good Bobrovsky is playing right now, no matter how much or for how long the Panthers retain on his 10m deal, I cannot see them getting any sort of return when trading him.</div></div>
Do you think the deal could work without the picks as just a Bobrovsky for Blackwood swap?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>earl08</b></div><div>I'm thinking a top pair of Jones-Montour in CHI. Hawks send some addtl assets to FLA for the upgrade over Murphy</div></div>
Chicago should absolutely not make a 29-year-old defenseman a part of their core... Not going to end well with Bedard being 18 since once he actually gets to his prime they'll have a veteran defenceman on an overpaid contract. Montour is a way better fit for a team competing now since they could get a top 4 offensive defenseman who is probably good for around 3-4 more years.

1 for 1 swap? Florida can get way more for Montour if they do decide to sell him so they definitely shouldn't do that. Now if Chicago wants to add to make the deal work then maybe if the price is right (I assume that Chiacgo would flip Montour for picks and prospects? Otherwise it'd be dumb for Chicago in my opinion).

Cap to make moves on the TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>There will likely be a bidding war (even if it's a mini one) this next TDL for his services. Obviously TRad needs to play well next year, but for less than the league minimum and RFA controll...Jeannot/Hagel are two HECK of an anchor in negotiating for the Hawks.
Not suggesting something like this couldn't occur. I'd swap out Denisenko with Michael Benning to start.</div></div>
Personally I vision Benning and Samoskevich as replacements for Montour and Duclair next season so I wouldn't trade them unless it can fix those problems long term. I intended this as an offseason move but could see it happen at the TDL too.

Grabbing em Bruins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Is a career 50 point per 82 games winger worth 6m X 7 years starting at age 28? (Bertuzzi)</div></div>
I was very impressed with him during the Florida - Boston series and if that is the kind of player Florida could get I think it would make them an even more of a nightmare to play against in the playoffs. I don't think Florida has a lot left to prove in the regular season after last year and this roster is definitely strong enough to get in the playoffs, so I'd be down to overpay a bit to get an outstanding playoff performer for many years to come. If Florida could get him for cheaper that would be optimal of course though.

I don't know that it does, Boston has to get rid of one or two of Forbort, Grzelcyk and Reilly and I'd think they keep Forbort based on who they played in the playoffs so I wouldn't be surprised to see him get traded for less than he's actually worth.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Instead of acquiring Hanifan and giving him a raise, and giving up assets to get him, maybe the Panthers would concentrate on resigning Montour and Reinhart, and RFA Lundell.</div></div>
Personally I don't think they should resign Montour because he will be 30 years old at the time of the new deal and I don't think he can keep up this production in the next 3 to 5 years. Rather resign Forsling for less. Resigning Reinhart will cost a lot so I'd rather just use his money for the Lundell extension. There's also Samoskevich and Benning in the system who I think could crack the roster in 2024-25.

Figured it may not be enough with Duclair, tried to make a team where I could have all of Reinhart, Bertuzzi and Hanifin on the team at once. Also I can't see Florida retaining on anyone they may sell unless it's Bobrovsky. I could see a 1 for 1 Reinhart - Hanifin swap with both having extensions work though.

I feel like you could compare him to Fleury aswell though, 7 mil for 1 year, no payment needed. Someone could definitely retain another 50% and sell him to be a back up on a playoff team at 2,5 mil.

Well say they get Gavrikov and as someone mentioned Schenn, they could have a d-core of:
Lindholm-McAvoy
Gavrikov-Carlo
Grzelcyk-Schenn
(Forbort-Zboril)
It's definitely a stanley cup level defence and if you should ever go all in Boston should do it now.
For the offence they can pretty much roll with what they got and have White as an extra/see if he fits somewhere well. Just some extra insurance for when players get banged up during the playoffs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ronan00</b></div><div>Bruins won't do that mid season, all the FO and the reporters have talked about leading up to the deadline last season was how defensive depth was a vital priority since that was a big part of why we lost vs the Islanders 2 playoffs ago when Carlo went down, so they broght in Lindholm and Brown last season, plus Clifton has been suprisingly good for what I expected from him so I'd be shocked if they were open to moving him until after the season
If that was an offseason trade I'd be all over it, I like that for the Bruins a lot, Reilly on your top 4 will not last, despite his usually very good analytics for a few seasons now he just doesn't have it in him long term</div></div>
My idea here is that this is kind of a preparing move so that the Bruins can go all in and get a top 4 defenceman, think Gavrikov or Chychrun. They would have to part ways with Clifton but they would get the cap space for a bigger trade. Zito likes analytics and Florida is known to get the most out of their players so I wouldn't be surprised to see Reilly do well.

Keep the picks to dump Bob at 50% in offseason or restock prospect pool</div></div>
Yeah, I could see Bjugstad getting more. As for the trade, would Nemeth be any kind of an upgrade over Marc Staal? Can't really see FLA letting go of Gudza unless its for something that can improve their defence alot, I feel like the plan is to have a Knight/Gudza tandem for years to come.
Is Kulikov really that bad? I had the thought he was a servicable bottom 4 fill, who could make Montour's game less risky with his defense.
I still don't see any reason that Bob would waive his NMC, so I really doubt a trade will be possible...

Yeah like the others say, Bobrovsky isn't going to take a paycut by moving elsewhere from low tax Florida. Buying him out gives Florida cap space as long as they can find a back up as good as him for under 3,3 mil.

If Florida buys out Hornqvist the cap can work (and especially if they can trade him without giving up too much). Without Duclair and since Balcers was waived there is a hole in the top 9 though. Levtchi has been very good in the AHL so I could see him be given a chance and if he performs then I really like the trade for both sides.

Fair enough the offer is pretty weak, is there some prospect besides Samoskevich you could see Red Wings have interest in that they would be willing to take on Hornqvist for (Denisenko, Sourdif)? Florida doesnt really have picks besides the 2023/2025 2nds and I'm already trading the 2023 2nd so I dont like the idea of also trading the 2025 2nd.

On a different note, do you know why Tkachuk isn't playing with Barkov? Tkachuk really doesn't drive play very well so pairing him with someone like Barkov makes way more sense to me</div></div>
I think it's just to balance the lines. Worked well last year with each of the three lines having a top line player (Barkov on the first, Huby on the second and Reinhart on the third). Barkov also had great chemistry with Verhaeghe last year so it makes sense to keep them together. Might also have something to do with letting Tkachuk play with his old teammate Bennett, the two of them got a pretty nice goal last night.

The thing is, I've made AGM's where I've traded Bob and every single time the comments say he can't be traded without paying a significant amount. As for the buy out the way I see it is that FLA gets 3,3 mil to sign a cheap back up and extra players rather than just having a 10mil back up. The 3 years with 1,7 mil isn't that big of a problem imo.

How is the cap getting destroyed for 8 years? The cap is going up significantly after the 2023-24 season so even though some new deals need to be signed, there will be cap space. The contracts in my opinion are fair for what both of the players can bring and they're both locked up for their prime (roughly age 27-33), so I dont see how they're going to be a burden in the future. As for Bob if there is a back up available for less than 3,3mil then why not buy him out for extra cap space (expecting no one is willing to take on his contract for free)?

In my opinion if no team is willing to take him at 50% retained for free then buying him out is the best idea. With taking on Hoffman we'd get nearly 0 cap relief and we would get a locker room cancer. His contract and reputation would also cost to dump, However if some team is willing to take on Bob's contract at 50% retained without FLA having to pay anything then yeah that's the best idea.
