The Leafs forward group is miles ahead of the Rags, sorry we didn't play literally the worst playoff team in the salary cap era in the 1st round

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakenTheCode</b></div><div>Any Marner trade proposal involving Vince Dunn going the other way is a non-starter. He's their best defenseman and a key part of their roster for both the present and future. Dunn's importance to the team was demonstrated last season when their performance cratered following his injury. The Kraken need scoring, but there are many ways they can boost that without sacrificing one of their team cornerstones.
As for the whole Marner-to-Seattle idea, I think the Kraken will at least do their due diligence and kick the tires on a deal, but the only way I see a trade being made is if it's for another forward with draft capital to balance out the talent discrepancy.</div></div>
What do you think of Wright + Larsson?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Poor finishing is a nice excuse for good goaltending BTW (if you look at GSAX) and the goaltenders importance on the powerplay is difficult to minimize.
It’s as if Jeremy Swayman had only a little to do with Toronto’s finishing rate. IMO, Jeremy Swayman was the primary reason Boston beat Toronto. Disagree?
I get because there are less goalies on a roster than forward, your quality in the mid 50th percentile is a better player than a center in the mid 50th
My perspective is Toronto had a better overall roster, but lost because Jeremy Swayman significantly outplayed your tenders.</div></div>
Yeah I agree with this mostly

Yes. Consistently wins his minutes (xGF%, GF%, corsi etc.), puts up 30 goals and 60+ points, can drive a line, all while taking on the hardest matchups every game

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Yet
LA got bounced easy because of their mediocre goaltending in the playoffs
Toronto lost to an inferior talent team because of goaltending.
Jersey looked liked a team who was ready for a coronation of whose next who was derailed by mediocre goaltending
Ottawa and Detroit got sunk by mediocre goaltending
Sure, there are outliers who buck the likely scenario (like all positions), but most teams that try to go cheap at goalie pay for it. Of all fan bases who should know this. I’d assume it’s Toronto. How many second tier guys do you pursue before you realize it won’t work
No one with cap room is taking Tavares at 11M. Maybe at full retention, he has value. My guess is he tries to leverage an extension to get him to waive and he won’t want to take the salary needed for a team to consider that.</div></div>
LA lost because they got dominated on special teams (0% PP, 55% PK). Same with Toronto + mid 5v5 defense and poor finishing. Ottawa and Detroit both had bad 5v5 play coupled with bad goaltending. Goaltending matters, but it's less important than the T9F & T4D + the 5v5 game

I eliminated Borgen, since I don't think SEA will just want to trade away their top RD and someone they are familiar just to end up with a new guy in Liljegren who is similar. I took off Liljegren and Robertson because the Leafs shouldn't be dealing Marner with 3 assets.</div></div>
Yeah, Wright + Larsson + A 1st for Marner + A 3rd is something I'm okay with (even without the picks involved). My issue is adding on Lily and Robbo who are our two best young NHL-caliber trade assets for no good reason, especially when they're cheap

Plus, Burns shows up in the postseason. Declining it is fine, but this is as helpful an offer for Marner as the Leafs will get.</div></div>
Leafs are going to want impact players with term on their contract + cap space. Burns has no term and Kuzy is basically a salary dump. It's not a logical trade and there will 100% be a better offer than this

Markstrom isn't nearly as valuable an asset as Robertson/Lily/Minten/A 1st are. He has 1 year left and isn't a needle mover
