God this core sucks
I dont think a 1st rounder and taking on ryan and smiths deal is worth getting rid of bennett brodie and stone.
Brodie is a 1st + by himself
Bennett is close to a 1st at worst. (hartman just went for a 1st at deadline)
And stone is probably a 3rd at worst.
People need to respect brodie more. Mcdonagh and miller just went at the deadline for a lot. Brodies numbers are comparable offensively and yes brodie has his wrong doings but i would rather make a trade for players that would actually help this team instead of making a move for the sake of it.
I actually do want them to trade brodie and bennett but there is hopefully better out there.

Sign and trade for next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>or he gets paid the same amount in that additional year keeping the average the same</div></div>
Unfortunately your statement doesnt make much sense. But he will make 9.5 mill per both cap hit and actual salary (bonus probably included). But if he were to only sign a 7 year deal i dont think 9.5 would get it done. Heck i really dont think thats enough for 8 years. Just showing if he were to take a small cut how good the team would be.
Remember he will make a ton of endorsement money.

Big Deals
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zeerak</b></div><div>If Treliving trades Brodie to get back the pick he traded for hamonic, he might as well carpool with Gulutzan after game 82.</div></div>
I do have to disagree with you here. I think this would be a good return for brodie. Ho sang still has potential and high skill. We would actually be able to draft prior to 3rd round and it would clear more cap space (which isnt an issue just gives us more freedom for ufas if we go that route) and ultimately opens up a left side spot for valimaki.

Seems under appreciated in detroit though. Plus they would get back a really good d man and get rid of a contract so you can sign larkin AA and others.

Hamonic wont go to ottawa. And i wouldnt want all of ryans money. The deal is probably more realistic without hamonic anyway considering taking ryan would make the cost a lot lower to acquire stone.

Draft day deals, mini rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zeerak</b></div><div>Serious overpayment for Reinhart, also if we trade gio the main piece has to be better than dermott or this isn't even a mini rebuild.. its signalling a full out blow it up kinda rebuild.</div></div>
I do agree... This is a huge over payment for reinhart. However the 3 other trades are good ideas. As much as losing gio would suck... The value is there.

Brodie to Boston
I think brodie to boston is a good fit... But i wouldnt want krejci. Would rather get picks or a young winger. Heinen+ a pick could work

changes needed
I could go for these changes. If we are to keep brodie i would love to see him play the right maybe even with gio and have valimaki with hamilton but i guess the gio hamilton pair works well... I would even be ok with trading andersson if this was the opening night roster. Really like the trade.

Wasted talent... Try to create a spark
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zeerak</b></div><div>You forgot the fact that the coaching staff needs to go. They've failed miserably to produce a consistent product with this talented a roster, there are no excuses. This team being mentally weak and folding like a cheap tent under pressure has to be seen as a massive coaching failure, not that I'm trying to say the players aren't at fault, but it all starts with the team culture. That's broken here.</div></div>
Thanks for the comment. 100% gulutzan is gone if they fail to make the playoffs. Lack of in game adjustments and failing under pressure are killing this team as well as the inability to score... Its a shame to watch with such s talented roster.

Trading Mony :(
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stuginla</b></div><div>Biggest problem? Center is arguably where we have most depth. Our bottom 4 D is a tire fire. After this trade try to package Brodie for another top 6 fwd and pair hanifin with hamonic</div></div>
Im talking about scoring not depth at C. I dont think trading our top scorer is a good idea. Im down for trading and someone like a bennett or ferland. But the top 9 needs improving there is 1 missing piece on both the 1st and 3rd line.

when stone refuses to re-sign in the shitshow
Even if it was brodie instead of bennett id do this. Stone is what the flames need. The only reason i say brodie is because valimaki or andersson should be ready to play next year and keeping bennett would actually give them a lot of depth if he and jankowski do progress.
But as is.... Would still do it. Might have to add a little something but bennett and kylington are good trade pieces.

Difference is brouwer has 2 years left after this.... Ryan has 4 at a difference of almost 3 more million per year.

The three most realistic trades I could see Brad Treliving making at the TDL
If the flames are taking smith and giving away kylington they better be getting a pick. Smith is a cap dump... Who truthfully has no future role on this team besides 4th line centre and he makes way too much money.

Brodie alone is almost as good as oel. Plus he has an extra year of control. "Zona" lost their best chance a year ago to cash in on oel.

According to melnykout which you liked the post macarthur is 80% covered and the sens pay him almost a million. I know thats not against cap but if the sens arent careful. They are already paying almost 3 million to players not skating for their team plus they still have gaboriks awful contract as well as ryans and both goalies dont look sharp. Could be a lot of dead cap space

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Fact most LTIRs are fully insured, to it doesn't cost owners to have injured players. Why you think it cost owners so much, only you understand. Admitting there are a few cases where the only 80% of the salary is paid by the insurance. Or in Leafs Horton's case, none of his LTIR is covered by insurance, the exact reason the Clarkson deal was made, and the reason Horton is not tradable. But thanks for confirming that many are confused by LTIR, dude.</div></div>
Last time i checked 20% of almost 5 mill is a lot. And its a team that still has to pay ryan.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>There is this illusion that players on LTIR significantly hurt a teams cap. The only way it's changes a team cap 1. flexibility when the performance are paid. Part of those expansion deals was for teams that would lay off certain players.
If Crosby and Malkin get hurt for the Pens, the Pens don't suddenly have 18m in dead money, and are operating at 57m in effect. Folks really don't understand LTIR and how it affects the cap. And when making roster on CapFriendly, it doesn't do justice to the complications of LTIR and performance bonuses.</div></div>
Dude just because you dont think people understand ltir... Doesnt mean youre right. Melnyk and or any team probably dont want to pay too many people for not playing on their team. They are now paying phaneuf alot to play somewhere and still need cap $ to sign karlsson stone and duchene. Getting rid of hoffman and mac isnt a bad idea. Plus brouwer is not that useless. He actually plays a penalty killing roll and chips in the odd point.
