PLD to Calgary
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gmonwy</b></div><div>I don't see Calgary trading that much for someone who basically said he is going to Montreal in 2 years</div></div>
That's fair but if you look at it as two deadline deals in a row, a 1st for Dubois is what he'll go for at the absolute minimum. 2 1sts for two playoff runs for Dubois does make sense if you look at it that way.

Is Scheifele possible
With Dubois saying he's leaving in 2 years max, I believe Winnipeg eill make a push to re-sign Schiefele in order to not lose both their top 6 C. I do have a couple doubts about them willing to move from Schiefele and Dubois both in the next year unless they go compelte rebuild and also move Hellebuyck.

Serious Offer
I keep seeing Arber Xhekaj in mock PLD trades and my question is why? Jets have tons of LHD prospects, he was the 21st scoring Dman in the OHL as a 21 year old (by p/pg, 30th by points, which isnt that impressive considering his age), has no draft pedigree to back him up, etc. I just fail to really see any value at all in him in regards to a Dubois trade. Is he just a throw in to make a trade seem better through sheer quantity, which habs fan are okay with getting rid of as he wasn't drafted, or do people actually see him as a legitimate prospect?

What everyone thinks Dubois is worth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EatMyScoobySnack</b></div><div>Dubois and is agent Pat Brisson have told for alot of time they want to play for MTL sometimes in is carrier. Also they have told that they want to be UFA next year. That could be is wish or a way to manipulate is next contract.
But when you look is pedigree and how he's being doing since he have been draft, he have an attitude problem and for some he's seen as a diva.
If he's really wanting to play to MTL and be UFA in the next year, then is not worth give anything to obtain him sooner because MTL is not at one player (Dubois) worth to be able to be competitive for decades.
Jets would probably received better then what MTL want to trade back but in same time gm will have a conservative approach to acquire him because he would be a big question mark and rental for maybe one or two year maximum.</div></div>
He's still under Jets control next year. He'd have to wait 2 years for UFA. As for the Montreal stuff, Last year Huberdeau said that playing in Montreal was always a dream of his and now he's in Calgary for 9 years. Between now and 2024's trade deadline there are a lot of teams that could get him to sign an extension. Montreal is still going to be openly tanking this year, and it's very rare for teams to be the worst in the league for a couple years and then suddenly become playoff contenders. Montreal could still sign him yes, but I find it unlikely he would take a cheap deal for Montreal when any number of legitimate playoff contenders will be ready to give him a big paycheque.

Change of scenery for both
I don't think Winnipeg is in a place to be giving up assets like Dubois for a 1 year rental. I don't think it's likely Taresenko would re-sign in Winnipeg. They'd be better off getting futures or a good player with term.

Dubois to MTL and Toews to WPG 3-way
Toews at his full cap hit does not have near enough value to be the centerpiece of a blockbuster trade. Winnipeg would not trade 2 years of 24 year old Dubois at 6 mil for 2 years of 34 year old Toews at 10.5 million

The Jets have too many LHD as it is and are trying to trade one away. 0% chance they make a trade in order to acquire 2 more.

Real life trade maybe

Canucks are not over the cap once Ferland goes on LTIR.
I think Devils actually have more cap concerns depending on what their RFAs get.

No chance Winnipeg accepts any trade without any A assets coming back.
This trade has no 1st round picks, no good prospects, no very good roster player.

So montreal gets good players in exchange for... cap dumps in Armia, Gallagher, Hoffman, Drouin, and Dadonov. Winnipeg and Calgary both give hard no's and Hughes loses a trading phone.

Dubious to Habs
So in this potential trade dadonov and Byron are cap dumps and have negative value. For a team to take on 8.4 mil in cap dumps the value would probably be at least Florida's 1st. So it's basically Dach and a 4th for Dubois which Winnipeg passes on.

As much as I love Wheeler, I doubt he gets moved without retention, a high cap hit player coming back, or the Jets paying picks.

The cost to move Dadonov
Arizona will be on his NTC so not there. But that was the cost to move him last trade deadline. And moving Webers contract is probably equivalent to a 2nd at least. There is no chance he gets moved for positive value when Vegas couldn't even offload for future considerations this offseason.

Dependent on the NTC
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EatMyScoobySnack</b></div><div>Yeah it's depend of how well guys like Dadonov, Hoffman, Drouin, Byron are doing and if healthy. For exemple if they got a decent number ppg ratio for atleast 30 to 40 game other team could be interested to add offensif if they got more important injury and need to remplace a player.
Give a month or two and when injury start to fall there would be more cap space to add a piece.
Also don't know if a trade is possible but with the depart of Gaudreau and Tkachuk in Calgary they have over 18m to spend and have only 8 forward presently. Could they be interested on one or two of your forward with salary to boost they're line up ? Cause I don't see them back out of being competitive team.</div></div>
The thing is there are so many teams looking to offload good players at around 5 mil. For example Columbus may have to pay for a team to take Gustav Nyquist who is a better player than Dadonov/Drouin. There's ton of cap space around the league available still but due to how many teams need to offload salary (and that one recent comment by a GM about how hard it is to move salary right now) I imagine teams are not going to be adding salary for cheap. If teams are able to wait until training camp injuries or something there may be some openings though

I would assume the Montreal pick would be at least top 3 if not top 5 protected otherwise I don't think Montreal would move it. Even with that being the case I think this is what a trade would look like.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EatMyScoobySnack</b></div><div>Right now maybe not able to trade him but around deadline that could give back a low pick due to is ability to bring offense and be able to play in series. Mtl could even retain money to easily trade him as he only have one years left. Same thinking could be use with Drouin / Byron if healthy at deadline.</div></div>
At the deadline with retained salary that could make sense. I thought this was just to clear cap space so they're not over the cap once Dach signs.

Why would the Islanders pay to acquire Dadonov? Last deadline he would've cost vegas a 2nd to get rid of him. This offseason he cost Webers LTIR contract to get rid of him. Montreal also has no leverage cause teams know they have to offload cap.

Colorado gets a 2C
This is a terrible trade on so many levels. Giving up a 1st for poolmans contract seems like a huge overpay for a guy who only makes 2.5 mil for 3 years. If he goes to the minors it's only a 1.35? mil cap hit.
And I'm pretty sure if all Rutherford got for Miller was Girard he'd be fired.

Taking a stab at a Dubois Trade
You do realize that Drouin has negative value right? Dadonov is the better player/has the better contract, and doesn't have all the question marks surrounding him like Drouin does.
For reference Dadonov just got moved for Webers contract, or last year Keslers LTIR contract and a 2nd round pick. Ignoring the rest of the trade drouin himself would probably take at least a 2nd round pick to move with how many teams are looking to dump salary.

Mtl - Wpg PLD goes to La Bell Province
Out of all possible prospects I really don't think the Jets would have much interest in Guhle. Heinola, Samberg, Chisholm are all young LHD prospects the Jets will need to get playing time in the next couple years, so it doesn't make sense to add to the logjam there.
