<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>larter232</b></div><div>i don't really enjoy the Staal signing personally 3 million for a guy who was -30 last year is concerning, to say the least. Yes, i am fully aware it's not a great state, but i feel at -30 it is large enough to show he's not really good anymore defensively and he also didnt exactly put up a ton of points. He was only even in faceoffs in Montreal and he only had 8 points in 21 games in the playoffs. I feel there is a better use of the cap space there in just keeping mo and puting Kampf there and bringing up Robertson to play the left-wing. Mo only makes 5 million so without staal and soucy you still have almost 4 million in cap. To get a player or a few at the deadline.
Now i do understand Scoucy is 6'5 211lb which is super appealing i just think if you were gonna trade mo you should real dig it out for value.
Really i dont know, i understand the moves i just dont know if i like them. I enjoy the draft capital on one hand, but mo is a better player than most on this team.
He gets a ton of value in a trade but he also had a really solid playoffs from a defensive point of view.
Hes easy trade bait but the leadership he brings is very important as the current longest time spent leaf he's kinda relic from before matthews which makes me sentimental.</div></div>

Totaly agree. Besides his few points, Staal didn't show up in the playoffs. And Dubas found a cheaper 3rd line shutdown center in Kämpf. Very good in face-offs. And a true SH Center TOR had not in years. He will not play the wing. Spezza will likely move to RW instead. Therefore they will need Brooks. He is such a great fit in TOR. Eric Staal was the best player on a terrible Buffalo team and was given 4th line ice time in the playoffs.
Shafted by Decharmane.
$3 is not Unreasonable on a 1 year contract in my opinion simply based on the fact that his production skill and mobility is better at his late stage of his career than either Marleau or Joe Thornton signed with Toronto.
I believe he can bring Stability to the Leaf's forward core and experience.
As well as, Eric Staal BELONGS AND NEEDS TO RETIRE A MAPLE LEAF!
I've personally ALWAYS wanted Eric Staal on Toronto since LITERALLY like 2010/11.
So yeah there's a bit of personal bias I admit lol.

Nice one</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>Enlighten me smart guy. How do you they work? How is a team like the Sabres moving dahlin and eichel without getting one elite prospect back logical?</div></div>
I went strictly by what the Buffalo Organization ACTUALLY SAID they wanted.
Also, in the NHL, there is a vert thin THIN line between a Top Prospect and an ELITE Prospect.
I would personally consider Atu Rati an ELITE prospect because best case scenario for him is becoming a 90+ player and the worst case scenario he becomes a 20+ goal, 60 pt guy for ya in your organization.
Amirov could become a potential 70+ guy at BEST a 20/20 guy at WORST.
U see?

Yeah I'm not pulling a Phill Kessel for 2 Firsts and a 2nd.
That COST Toronto TYLER SEGUIN AND DOUGIE HAMILTON!
Like with the Buffalo Trade,
Nylander is a 60Pt Guy
Kerfoot SOLID 3C/LW
Reilly is a TOP and TRUE AND TRIED TOP PREMIUM 2
Defensemen in this League
Amirov was taken 15th overall in 2020
And Abrimov is projected to become a future Top 9 perhaps Top 6 Centermen
PLUS the 2nd which has REAL INSURMOUNTABLE VALUE
AND A 1RST FROM NEXT YEAR!
WHAT THE HECK ELSE DOES BUFFALO POSSIBLY WANT!?

I meant like in an alternative Time Line where Dubas did these moves, including Trading Boychuck and Hickey back to NYI.
Then the Leafs made moves but got a depth player from NYI N a mid to low Round pick plus Tor eats Salary.
Then It's 1. Tampa 2.Boston 3.Toronto 4. Florida 5. Montreal (2nd Wild~Card)
But it's Boston: 51-26-5 V Tor 48-31-5

Buffalo is LITERALLY in Zero position to Bargain.
The Longer they hold onto him, the more his Trade Value WILL decrease ESPECIALLY without Eichel to prop him up.
Also Olly is NOT the type of player that DEMANDS a 1rst and Top Prospects as well as, Buffalo needs QUANTITY MORE THAN QUALITY!

Of course he does play... But NOT ALL 82 GAMES
He should Imo be given like 50-60 games.
Just to keep his legs fresh for the playoffs.
Besides, he doesn't NEED 2 play necessarily in the Season Opener.
Especially with Kyle Clifford back in the line~up, I believe he deserves to enjoy the spotlight in the Season Opener.
Leaf Legend... Kyle Clifford.
