What does Manson cost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>Why is everyone trading Johnsson lately? The Leafs are deep on the right, not the left. If anyone were to be traded, Kapanen makes far more sense, as much as I am not in favour of it.</div></div>
I think it’s because Kapanen has a higher ceiling and a truly dynamic skill in his speed. Also Johnsson is only 6 months older then Moore which I find interesting. I’m against moving Kapanen as well but need to give to get and just slide him over when Johnsson is moved

I'm all for adding Jensen but i dont think we need to deal anything other then like a 3rd for him straight up. Would love to add him as a cheap right handed d man

I love his game so there is a little bit of bias there :D</div></div>
I'm also a big Bracco fan full disclosure lol And that's interesting, I hadn't heard that. If he plays 10 or more games this year he would have to be protected in the upcoming expansion draft so i feel like maybe not calling him up would be best so we don't have to use a spot on him. Just my thoughts

I like all the signings but i think Ozhiganov was overpayed a bit. not much but i dont think he needs that to stay here. Also not sure Liljegren or Bracco make the team next year. Not to start for sure but maybe later in the year i would think its a very real possibility.

Small Moves for the Right Side
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>While Jensen might welcome, is he really better than Hainsey? Reilly is having a career year with Hainsey as his partner. And Weager. Again are we getting into the thought that any 3rd pairing Dman on another team is so much that any Leafs 3rd pairing. Certainly the difference isn't Hyman.</div></div>
Did you see the possession or chance numbers I posted? Rielly is having a career year dragging along Hainsey. Imagine what he could do with someone else that isn’t an anchor to him? As I said I wouldn’t mind Hainsey rotating on the third pair because of the weaker competition and sheltered ice time but you can’t deny he’s a liability skating wise and gets beat to easily to often.

Small Moves for the Right Side
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>I feel like NJ would want NHL player back so I figured that Brown to NJ for Mueller and 4th rounder which is what NJ fans would agree to. Brown would get them speedy shooter who can be even their main PK guy and PP shooter/in-front-of-the-net guy and we would get underrated D who made Butcher into almost Calder nominee. He was the stopgap. I feel like if Liljegren is due to go up, Mueller would be perfect partner for him.</div></div>
I wouldn't mind adding him, i was just looking at right shot d men as i know Babcock likes to or wants to have ballanced pairs.

I'd be ok with Mueller as well. Shot differentials are good as well and wouldnt cost alot. Could maybe be had for a pick and prospect like Timashov

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brendanchisholm98</b></div><div>Hyman isnt going anywhere hes a huge part of the leafs top 6 and one of the only heavy players they have. U stated Hyman or Brown for weeger. Brown and Hyman do not have equal asset value. Hymans value is greater by an amount worth noting and both assets bring back a better asset than Weeger.</div></div>
I feel like Hyman is overvalued because of how much Babcock likes him. He's a good third line player that does his job well retriving pucks and forcheching but Johnsson, Kapanen and Brown can all do that as well with great potential for offence I belive. Just my own opinion as are the trade ideas and values

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tomkinoo</b></div><div>I agree with demoting Hainsey but scratching him is a little too far, also Babcock would never
Hainsey is slow yes, but he's also playing against the other teams top talent all time, I'm sure he wouldn't look as bad on the third pairing with Ozhiganov against weaker competition
Also he's a pretty good penalty killer. Otherwise I can't argue the forward lines, looks good</div></div>
Thanks for the comments. It is my lines so that’s why I’m scratching him. It’s not would Babcock do it but what I’d do. On the third pair I’d be ok with him but if I can get someone else more mobile then hI’m into the game I’m all for it

TOR - FLA Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I just don't think the Leafs would be trading Gardiner for futures. The Leafs need Gardiner now, though I don't think he going to signed for next year.</div></div>
I dont think they will either but i think they should. Hes definitely more valuable to them on their team then in a deal i just think they cant afford to keep bleeding assets for nothing and hope to keep contending. Obviously they have an amazing core and im not saying Gardiner makes the team but you know what i mean. Chicago traded players to get assets back that they would have loved to keep but just couldnt so why shouldnt the leafs go the same route. Obviously they want to contend now and having him now helps but i dont think they resign him and i think dermott can step up to take his spot more then capably thus freeing him up to be dealt to attempt to fill a need.
Just my thoughts

The leafs have lots of cap room so they could retain on some of Gardiner and with just this year left on the deal its not like its a multi year retained salary issue.

I'd rather dump Zaitsev than Gardiner. He's paid more than he's worth, and that's a double-crime on a cap constrained team.
Hopefully it will all be solved sooner than later. Too much procrastination and hoping when it comes to improving the Leafs backend</div></div>
Wasnt saying move hainsey, i know he wont be going anywhere with his NTC, but i just wouldnt play him top pair abymore. Bottom pair where he plays like 17-18 min or someting would be much better i think.
Im willing to give Zaitsev some more time but if the right deal came up for him i would consider it for sure.

They have only two LD's with NHL experience and neither Kiselevich nor McCoshen seem ready; meanwhile, they have three RD's with NHL experience plus Weegar. My only contrary thought would be the pairings: maybe Rielly-Ozhiganov, Dermott-Zaitsev and Hainsey-Weegar. In the wings are Rosen and Liljegren.</div></div>
Those pairs work for me as well. Does create a balanced d core with good puck movers on each pair. I dont think Liljegren is ready to come up yet so he can stay in the AHL for now. But next year for sure i think hes up

Florida especially may bite on Gardiner, they've even switched to a 5 forward PP because the one thing Gardiner does well, Ekblad does very poorly
I don't know the 2 prospects, or what salary Florida would expect to be paying on a Gardiner extension. Even if this is an obvious No from Florida, it's a good starting point for negotiations</div></div>
Weegar played 60 games last year so not a total prospect but young enough to still have untapped upside for sure.

That’s a link to what he likes about having a left and right shot on each pair.
I know he is doing that and if that means no Hainsey on the top pair I’m more then good with that. Like I said I don’t think the leafs will be able to keep Gardiner so If it was me I’d try and move him for a right shot d man.

Nylander may sign for more but that wasn’t really the point of this thread. Also Gauthier and Nielsen weren’t meant to be a big issue in the trade. Just not a fan of them and add them to any deal lol Gardiner for Faulk was my original idea and we are just trying to find a deal that works to move him for a right handed d man back ideally.

They've got Slavin, de Haan, and they want Hayden Fleury to be a regular in the lineup. Plus Jake Bean coming up at some point. They certainly didn't sign de Haan to be 3rd pairing. This just doesn't interest them. I don't think the price for Faulk will be very high, but this doesn't fill any need for them.
Edit: didn't mean to give 1 star, how to I undo that?</div></div>
Fair points. I didnt realize they signed de Haan for a longer term deal. Could the leafs offer a forward to make this deal then?

Im good with that idea. Both are UFA so could both resing with new teams or both walk and no team makes out better then the other in the deal that way.
