Errmm Pens say NO on det deal too. McCann is Solid, 2020 is a deep draft, Guddy is worth a 5th, Jarry is worth a 4th. Its an overpay

Thee 2 yr Plan to get 87- 4 Cups - The 2019-2020 Pittsburgh Penguins Part 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>Maybe, but that's only if there's a lockout and there are penalty-free buyouts again. If not, the Kings are looking to rebuild to a playoff team within 3 years, and a buyout will hamper that. No reason to take JJ unless they are blown away by the offer.</div></div>
I think compliance buy outs as part of the expansion were all but confirmed? I do agree that its a tough sell.
How about a handshake deal:
LA take on JJ while they rebuild and for the last few years of Pens being truly in it. Then just swap him back when pens need to rebuild and Kings are ready.

First I actually love this team.
Second <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>Loud, and from the rooftops of Pittsburgh, for all Pens fans to hear:
The Kings <strong>WILL NOT</strong> take Jack Johnson's contract, unless there is a first round pick OR a 2nd rounder + a B+ rated DRAFT EXEMPT prospect coming back. JJ isn't going to be picked by Seattle at the expansion draft, are you kidding?</div></div>
Compliance Buyout I think is what he was going with on the expansion draft.

If he works out well I imagine they will make things happen to keep him....Just makes me hate that Tanev contract even more.
JJ has got to go, I dont see schultz staying either

Mostly cause I dont have faith in Jarry, and think Guddy brings something useful to the team (granted at a highly overpaid price point)

Potential Opening Night
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ClockReads2113</b></div><div>Though you have to imagine it will cost more to make that deal work. Hunwick only had 2 years left with a $2.25M AAV. Sheary also had 0.5 points per game stat. Them together brought back a 4th. Johnson has 4 more years a $3.25M. Rust has a 0.45 points per game stats. Imagine PIT will have to throw in a high pick or good prospect.</div></div>
Rust although having less PPG than Sheary is the better player. So that should help bridge the gap a little. Also I dare say that JJ although bad is slightly more serviceable than hunwick (if you ignore contract cost). So really is paying rust to make JJ feel 2M cheaper.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vic997</b></div><div>Great AAV tbh. Term isn't too bad as he's fairly decent and still 25. If he gets 40-45 points in even just one of those 7 years, this is really good value. Cap should be way higher in 7 years.
For comparison, Tanev got 3.5 x 6 w/ a modified NTC and Sissons was even more productive.</div></div>
Why rub it in? Come on the wound is still fresh :P

Pittsburgh Penguins signed Zach Aston-Reese (2 Years / $1,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>you clearly don't watch the games. No one watches DeSmith play and says, oh he's so great. Lets get rid of a player who plays 82 games a year so we can keep a guy who plays 30 and doesn't even play all that well.
That's just stupidity on your part.
He's not some great goalie. He's expendable. If they could keep him sure. But that's not the real issue. The issue is cap comes from somewhere and if they had to fit under right now, bye, see ya. Don't let the door hit ya on the butt on the way out.
They would be fine with Jarry in net.
You are over hear desperately trying to justify trading out other people to keep a mediocre at best back up goalie. What's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Believe me if the choice is between Jarry as the back up and keeping a 1st or losing a good player and Losing DeSmith. DeSmith can jump off a cliff.</div></div>
Okay you are being a little fast and loose there. DeSmith isnt worth a first or worth losing a good player for. But paying a first to dump a bad player and refil that position while keeping the better goalie is a good option. With Jarry as backup playing 25-30 games pens would win maybe 10 if his play is the same as last years level. DeSmith would get 15+. He had stretches of playing really well. Also you are making out like the 600k cap difference will be the crucial value it wont, Pens will be over by more than that and moves will need to be made.
