<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>I highly doubt that. In fact I have a believe that Dubas may be waiting to see what offer sheets are coming down from other teams next week. It makes sense to do that for both sides.

I don't think any GM is going to massively overpay Marner, there is no guarantee anyone wants to give him more than 11 million. Especially when you consider there is Point out there as a possibility as well as well as Rantanen. So with that in mind, it doesn't really seem like a smart idea for a rival GM to sell the farm for a player that while being a superstar, is still a winger and did see some boosting of stats due to playing with a great supporting cast.

So come Wednesday there are several possibilities, none of which are Marner signing an offer sheet (He can't until July 1)

Option 1)

A rival GM informs Marner's agent they will offer him a 7 year 11 million dollar contract. Ferris would then tell Dubas this information likely to get a better offer from TO.

Option 2)

No offers of 11+ are tabled, and Ferris learns that getting 10 million might not be possible which could narrow the gap between TO and Marner.

Option 3)

Offers that come in are essentially the same as what TO is currently discussing. That would likely mean a deal would get done relatively quickly since there isn't much ammo to hold out, especially considering the Leafs are probably just shy of 10 million in their offers already.

So the whole Marner is getting offer sheeted idea doesn't have a tonne of weight to it. I just don't see why any team would go out and make Marner the 3rd highest paid player in the NHL when he isn't yet at that level of player. Giving up 4 first round picks is a hefty price to give up. Personally I think what will happen is come Wednesday, Ferris will see an offer of 7x10.5 from some GM and use that to squeeze TO for some extra money. I've said for a while now, Marner is going to sign a deal in that neighbourhood with TO. 8x10 or so.

Kapanen is getting traded and I bet Johnsson goes to arbitration and gets a 1 or 2 year deal.</div></div>

THANK YOU! FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT!
