doesnt mean he'll repeat the success . its why they both got similar contracts .
we'll flip him like Morrow for a 4th or 5th .
he's not a long term solution</div></div>
Reilly never been good defensively & isn’t 6’2 and doesn’t win is battle on the board like Kulak

You are underselling Byron and Lehkonen. A 2nd and a 3rd for one of them, but not for both!

I still think he has some good hockey years tho is still pretty fast and pretty strong, even if his production drops a litttle he is a valuable player for other things, I would take a chance for a new contract with him but i get why some wouldnt</div></div>
If kreider ask for 7 year x 6,5m full NMC would you sign ? With the taxes in MTL and the cap going up I feel he could ask something like this. For me it is a no no. I understand your point that yes he would help us for the next 2-3-4 years but for me that is too much for a 2-3 line winger.

The problem with Kreider is that he will need an extansion next summer. At this moment, he will be 29 and NO WAY we sign him long term. His style of play doesnt age well (simmonds maybe not the best comparaison but still) and he is way over the age of our core (kk-suzuki-poehling-caufield-domi-mete-romanov-brook). I do like Kreider the player but his age and contract situation are not a great fit with our team. Rather keep lehko.

why trade suzuki for farabee? I guess for an all american line? My future lineup look more like this
Domi-Kotkaniemi-Caufield
Drouin-Poehling-Suzuki
Tatar-Danault-Gallagher
Lehkonen-Evans-Teasdale
Mete-Weber
Romanov-Petry

I have no doubt he can be a 65+ point guy if he matures and becomes consistent. But that’s the hardest thing about being a pro athlete is finding that. That’s what makes or breaks a lot of skill guys and why teams like more grittier players sometimes over him because they know what there getting every night. I seen him in Halifax and he was dominate but lazy at times too. I seen him play this year and I didn’t even know he played till the end of the game I seen him in celebrations with price. Major question mark but has skill.

Problem with offer-sheeting someone that high is that you're setting a precedent for the rest of your team.
Think of Domi next year and what his demands will be.

I know it's a high cost but since Montreal never wants to do the tanking thing , how will we get top players. ?
Our top scorers always rank 50 or further in the league,</div></div>
You forgot one very important thing about offer sheets: the player has to want to sign it.
Maybe that's the money and term he wants but is Montreal a team he would want to play for?
He's already turned down a few offer sheet ideas.
I think he wants to stay in Toronto and will have to settle for what the Leafs offer him.

Petry mock draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>The values are all off here.
Petry is a good player that should return a decent asset back but if the Habs are looking to move him, think something more along the lines of what Toronto paid for Muzzin (similar but not exactly) last year. The best asset of the deal will be a lottery protected 1st round pick, not a high end top prospect. Then add a couple lesser pieces to that in the form of B prospects and/or some additional later picks. Habs may have to retain some salary or take a not so big cap dump in return though but that shouldn't be a problem if they moving Petry's salary out.</div></div>
That's the only big differences between both Muzzin and Petry. Muzzin was sent with his big old 4M$ all out but the rumours here on ACGM are -almost- all including a 50% retained salary and that's an asset that the other trade partner would have to pay for. Maybe not an A+ prospect but I could definitely see a GM pay/overpay on TDL and give an A or A- prospect plus a pick in return if he really believes that he's the missing piece . If they even take on a ''bad'ish'' short term contract I see picks coming back on top of prospect/s. My personal last ArmchairGM included a Petry (With2-2.5M$ retained less is better I guess) + 5th round traded to the Jets for Vallati, Gawanke, 2020 1st, 2021 3rd and Kulikov. I don't know if I'm far from the return you think we should get but I thought it was pretty good to get picks and two B+ prospects, I know it may not be position of needs that we get back but hey! It's ACGM after all.

Finally, someone who understands that cap space is part of the return ... especially this year with so many teams right by the cap, someone would need to send back cap in a Petry deal.

But team doesn’t trade top prospect anymore! Look at the muzzin trade or the kevin hayes or even the math duchenes trade! Their was a lot of b prospect and a few of them might turn too real good player. Their much willing too sacrifice a first rounder.
Top prospect are to precious for organization now with salary cap
