I guess so. Tavares isn't playing well enough to demand more $$$ than Matthews or McDavid.

NYR would be hamstrung by two years of heavy losses from the Staal/Girardi buyouts, and would probably have to choose between keeping McDonagh or Zuccarello.

Lundqvist's health is a big question mark. NYR was foolish not to grab Pickard when he became available.

John Tavares isn't playing well enough to demand the same kind of money as Matthews and McDavid he's only has 18 points in 16 games that's like 90 points for the entire season at that current pace. He's worth $11 million per for 7 or 8 years i can't see Tavares leaving the NYI for the NYR good luck outbidding other teams for his services.

He'll get 9.5 - 10.5, maybe up to 11 on a desperate team. Yet I doubt he would sacrifice location/opportunity for money. Hence bye bye long isles, hello good market/contender! We're probably on the top end of the list, although I wouldn't go more than 10.
