Plekanec has no serious value in the trade other than to balance salaries (that's not to say he isn't a useful player - salary, age, declining points last year but could always be rejuvenated, and a one year rental being the reasons). The Wings deals make sense for Mtl needs and Det cap situation . But if Sakic waited that long for that kind of return , he might as well give it for free . Sherback is not worth nothing and would probably pass waiver if he had too . Plek is a cap dump , and Danault was a 4th liner before Mtl journalism transform him into a first line center .
