Wow, are you ever overrating Gudbranson. He's not a top pairing guy, nor is he even remotely close to being worth Turris AND Claesson. I wouldn't even trade Claesson straight for him up at this point.

That's also a pretty rough package from Carolina. Two decent prospects and a bottom 6 center for a decent prospect and a top 6 winger? Ryan's cap hit would be the last thing on my mind if I'm Carolina and someone asks for that package. It's the easiest yes I have ever made.

I like moving Phaneuf's contract, and we'd obviously have to take something back, but MacDonald is a huge drop off from Phaneuf in terms of skill. Weise is barely a 13th forward, so we'd be massively downgrading just to shed a year of cap. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

And then all of that adds up to Brassard getting scratched, and Colin White (who hasn't even played more than 10 games in the NHL) is our new 1C?

Brassard wont be starting the season with us because of his shoulder surgery ....I disagree about Gudbranson of course and if you follow any Ottawa hockey as I am sure you do then you know how important money is to Ottawa ...they are also looking to trade Phaneuf and I like MacDonalds simple game...he is very under-rated in my opinion ....thanks for the input
