No. But if the injury causes Quinn Hughes to play worse then the other Dmen then yes, he should not win the norris.

Cale Makar also greatly benefited from playing with MacKinnon. He spent 898:24 with MacKinnon (at 5-5) and 405:40 away from him. In his time away from MacKinnon, Makar posted a 47.74 xGF% without MacKinnon on the Ice.

If you want to argue Hughes was carried by either Pettersson or Miller that would be wrong. Hughes spent 527:34 with Miller at 5-5 and 994:58 without him. Without Miller his xGF% was 56.32%. He spent only 501:37 with Pettersson and 1038:58 without him. Without Pettersson his xGF% was 55.40%.

If you want to factor in killing penalties then sure, but he was Colorados worst PK guy that played at least 40 minutes at 4-5. With him on the ice Colorados PK had an xGA/60 of 9.59.
Hughes didn't play much on the penalty kill (Vancouver valued him more at 5-5) but in his limited minutes was Vancouvers best penalty killing defender (fwiw, which is probably not much)

Quinn Hughes obviously is not as good as Makar overall but this year was pretty clearly the best dman (imho)

You can be the better player but have the worse season. Sure Makar is a bit better than Hughes, but Hughes had the much better season. It isn’t really a debate
