Either way the idea is to shed his cap. Picks are negligible but I think Blackhawks will value him for leadership and helping salary floor. 2-year deal isn't bad at all.

Idea here is to find a creative partner. Dallas has some cap space. Lindgren fills a need. Chytil is risky but if he shows dependability can fill that 3C spot superbly. Othmann would be gravy. Rangers get a more dependable and cheap 3C with upside.

Salary floor is easy to get to. We get picks with our cap dumps, not trade them away. Hawks have plenty of leadership. There is no "intrinsic" value there from Trouba.
