Apparently you don’t pay much attention to how the canes operate. When they lose someone to free agency/trade, they immediately go big game hunting for a suitable replacement and it usually works out. Think Marchessault, Toffoli, Ehlers, Buchneivich as replacement options for Gunetzel/Necas. Not another tiny winger which we have a million of.

And how has that worked out for them? Canes need a good goalie in his prime. If I was the canes I’d be trying to trade for a goalie like saros

This year Kochetkov will be given a chance to take the reigns, he was very good last year but Rod the Bozo refused to give him a look in the playoffs

Slavin extension already done. Burns and kuzy won’t come back. Maybe Orlov does on short term deal. Next summer isn’t a problem.

When did the slavin extension get done? Source? Just because they are said to have an “agreement” it doesn’t mean anything until own goes to paper. A month ago frank seravelli said there’s about a 5% chance that Marner is back on the leafs and now it looks like he’s staying. Things change quick. So if you’re losing kuzy and geuntzal wouldn’t it make sense to sign a young player that has real scoring potential that is only going to make 2M a year? Again, canes would be absolutely out of there mind if they didn’t make that trade. Guarantee Robertson goes there first season and scores 20-25 goals

EF has stated it multiple times and he’s much more reliable than Frank and Pagnotta and those types of guys. Sure things could change but there’s been no disputing of that report so feel free to come back here on 7/1 after it’s announced if you’d like to wait.

It’s also weird you keep referring to Kuzy as a core piece. He’s not - he’s a low risk high reward player they took a chance on that likely doesn’t get extended. If they lose Guentzel, they’ll go after a legit replacement. Maybe they take a flyer on Robertson but it’s kind of funny how high you are on him. Would think leafs could use cheap talent who can play and score with their cap crunch this season if it’s a “guarantee” that he can easily score 25-30 goals. I’m sure this isn’t a homer take at all guess the canes are out of their mind!
