i dont think the Avs should spend at 3rd pairing like that - IMO they should use Malinski and if that doesn't work, hit the market at the TDL.

And I don't think the Avs will do Kane but who knows. Landy probably would be better suited for 3rd line minutes next year, so I'm not opposed.

I like the idea of the Avs spending. Then they can determine fit. And if they want to keep some of the guys they got. Or flip them for picks if Landy and Nichushkin come back.

The general idea, is take on reasonable contracts and worst case they'll be flipped for lower end picks as the Tatar deal.
I think Chatfield has the potential to eventually take over for Manson. Malinski will still get minutes.

I like the idea, but Val will count against the cap to start the season. Need to add him as a scratch or on IR. This lineup is ~6 mil over the cap as is.

Val is eligible to come back Nov 15 and that's the earliest if he gets reinstated. His cap only kicks in when he gets back. Still, if he and Landy come back, that's a lot of players they have to dump. Players will know the situation and wonder if that is going to happen to them, so getting any free agents other than league minimum guys might be a challenge for COL.

I can't imagine CAR letting Chatfield walk and Duhaime isn't likely to sign for less than he made this season.

this is not true as far as we've been told. His cap only counts once reinstated.
