Toronto moves on from one of their main core pieces to upgrade the position they have frequently struggled with. Saros gives Toronto a Vezina level goaltender (who does need to be resigned, most likely less than Marner's current deal) and also get Tomasino, a prospect that has struggled so far, but a change of scenery back to his home Provence could help him stick in the NHL as a middle 6 guy. Marner becomes Nashville's star, with a core of Forsberg and Josi helping him in the Central, while Lilijegren also gets a change of scenery to a Nashville blueline that might need the depth next year. Askarov is in waiting, so the Preds pull the trigger to get an elite winger. Both need to be resigned after the upcoming 2024-2025 season, but picks are added by the Preds because Tomasino isn't established yet.
