Detroit one is way too much for Duke.

Stuck with Hertl lol. Are you the same person that keeps trying to add like 3 years to his contract, saying he'll be 38?

Personally wouldn’t trade Wallinder 1-1 for Duke. I would be 100% okay however with finding a deal for him at the right price, just not sure what that looks like.

35/36, yeah. There's been about 12 ACGMs that try and add years to his contract/to Hertls life (typically Boston is the team) to make his contract look bad.

Hertl's contract is great and with the rise in cap over the next 5/6 years, he'll be making equivalent to about 6.4 in todays cap % in his last year. At that point, sure, he'll likely be a bit overpaid, but not a contract that you'll need to dump by any means.

well, no. its not 35/36. it's 36. and ya, his contract is bad, and a huge gamble. no team is going to want it. I think it's pretty foolish to try to project the cap out seven years, and I see a decline in the player. The standard regression curve of players his age would indicate that his play falls off at a far greater rate than the cap increases. if i'm boston, i would have exactly zero interest in acquiring that contract.

Well no, He'll be 35 to start the year and 36 when it ends. And 8 mil is a good number for a #1 Center. And it's not foolish, this site literally shows the projections for the cap. I'm being generous with it too by using smaller percentages than what we've seen historically.

I do think Boston is the wrong team, given they're older already but for a young team that can have him as #1 C /1b C who would transition to 2C / 2LW, he'd be a great add. That's why he's perfect to stay on the Sharks lol Look what Dallas is doing with Benn as their 3C and that massive contract. Sure he's overpaid, but he's still a big part of that roster. I'd put good money on him aging better than Benn given Hertl's game is based around possession and his IQ rather than pure skill/speed/hitting

Jamie Benn just turned in a better season last year than Hertl has in his whole career. I've already seen a noticeable decline in Hertl's game, and I think that you're right - perfect to stay on the sharks, but mostly because no one will want him without retention. There's just too high of a chance he winds up as a buyout candidate rather than a complimentary piece. It would be one thing if he was worth the contract now, but I don't think he is. Good player, but not worth the risk.

He was playing his best hockey this season lol. For a good 25 games or so he was near point per game to start the season. On a team that was literally averaging 1 goal a game. Now he's injured that required surgery that he was playing through for a while (decided to just get the surgery since this season is a wash so he wanted to get to 100% next season). Benn had a great OFFENSIVE season, though he put up those numbers on an elite offensive team in an era that's seen the highest goals per game in like 2+ decades.

Boston can't get him because they don't have the assets.

next year they have cap space, which is the only asset that would be needed to acquire hertl. hope you enjoy watching hertl, i'm thrilled that contract isn't on my teams books.

If you think Hertl is washed you have no clue what washed looks like... Zacha was washed (but not anymore)...
I'd say McAvoy is more washed than Hertl...

ya, it's your bad. maybe don't be so randomly hostile if you're not sure what you're reading.

I can be as hostile or neutral as I like... Who are you to tell me? You did not explain anything clearly. It is a miracle you are alive/not in jail for how badly you explained the Hertl situation...

or, and this is a far out concept - maybe you have trouble understanding a language you admittedly don't know well?

What do you mean with far out concept? Like hard to believe or something similar?
