Description
They're gonna ride Skinner come playoffs so as long as Pickard gets more starts to lighten the load for the remainder of the season the Oilers don't need a goalie. Worst case they bring Campbell back up for the playoffs.
Transactions
1.
EDM
  1. Guentzel, Jake (3 000 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Purely as a rental. EDM can't afford to extend. If the ask is any higher I'd walk.
PIT

  2. Holloway, Dylan
  3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (EDM)
2.
EDM
  1. Dowd, Nic
  2. Edmundson, Joel (875 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
WSH wanting a 1st for Dowd, doesn't mean they'll get it. Edmundson is a healthy scratch. There are other teams with a 4C & 7/8D who will take a 2nd & 4th.
WSH
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (EDM)
  2. Choix de 4e ronde en 2025 (EDM)
3.
EDM
  1. DeBrusk, Jake (2 000 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Kulak has 2 years remaining. BOS needs D, especially with term.
I'm hesitant to add a pick to Kulak

If I'm the Pens GM I'm really liking it . As an Oiler Gm I don't make that trade ..Imo Holloway matures into a real nice middle six player . I don't see a problem with Dowd / Edmundson, but Debrusk would likely cost a 1st and Kulak with a mid round or B prospect coming back

Cost to get a playoff performer like Guentzel.
I feel like a 1st+Kulak+mid round or B prospect is too rich. I like DeBrusk but he's not worth that haul IMO

    no.

I honestly hope PIT finds a team willing to pay more for an extended Guentzel but I'm having a hard time seeing who has the assets to do it. As a rental this is a good return for him.

no it is not, a 3rd would be more valuable than Warren Fogele.

Lmao that's a garbage offer Guentzel. Foegele is the most intriguing piece which is saying something.

Holloway is 22 and can't produce at all in the NHL and the 1st round pick is basically a lottery ticket.

So you don't watch anyone other than the Pens.

Foegele comes in after trading Guentzel and still gives PIT a chance to make the playoffs... A 3rd isn't helping for years

You clearly don't understand what the plan for the penguins is if they sell at the deadline.

If they sell Jake then it doesn't much matter if they make the playoffs this year. The goal is to acquire assets to retool for the offseason. He's a UFA, that means he has no value.

Crosby & Co want to be in the playoffs whether Guentzel stays or not!

Settle .....young one . 22 is very young for a pro hockey player in the best league in the world .. He is in the infancy of likely a long career. Not all 1st rounders are stars by the time they are 22. Most are not . Many aren't even in the league yet. Their is a lot more runway with this player . You show how naive you are thinking Foegle is a better asset than Dylan Holloway.

The Penguins btw are going to need all the lottery tickets they can get . Guentzel is a rental for a team. Strictly a rental . You aren't going to rebuild the Pens with a Guentzel trade.

This guy wants superstars back for rentals ..what he fails to realize is if Guentzel gets traded that's a clear indication that management is changing course . And the new priority is to acquire assets for the future .

I would hope every pro would want to be in the playoffs . But are smart enough to know it's unlikely to happen every year of your career . Be happy , the Penguins are proud ex champions . More than a few teams can't say that ..

If PIT can't re-sign guentzel and instead trade him they need to move on. Unless they plan to trade Crosby & Co as well they're going to want to fill the holes left from the players they cant keep and try to get this core back into the playoffs before the end of 87s contract!

If there is no first out there for Dowd, i would bet the Caps just hold on to him. And Edmundson has been healthy scratched MAYBE twice this year, if at all. He's spent a good chunk of this season on the second pair actually. Not saying he's been good there, but he's definitely not a healthy scratch. Although on a cup winning team he might be.

Asking a 1st for Dowd is too much. He's worth more this TDL than next year.
Edmundson is def a healthy scratch on most playoff teams. It would be a depth move, nothing more.
