Hanifin wont be a rental, he has a offer of 7.5 times 8 yrs on the table.whoever he goes to will sign him for that. you are over valueing Holtz.so the flames move him to Boston were Hanifin is from,for there 1st in 2025 and Mason Lohrei.

I’d argue our currently 14th overall 1st is worth more than that alome.

But regardless if that’s the Boston offer, my response would be 25 1st+Bahl+Clarke. If that doesn’t get it done oh well

I would be happy to acquire marky. The big problem is we need retention on marky to make the salary work past this season, and Calgary seems adamantly opposed to retaining on Markstrom.

In all if I was going to go full buy I would want to send out: 1st, 1st, Vitek, Bahl, Toffoli, 5th, 4th, 3rd
And bring in:
Hanifin 75% retained, Tatar, Markstrom 50% retained, Trenin/Evans.

But I also like the possibility of selling Toffoli, dumping vitek, avoiding overages and going into next year with a mid 1st+another 1st and a ****ton of cap space to play with to go grab a goalie at that point.

your right cgy isnt retaining on Marky,nor should they. why would you want to move Toffoli,you need him. your not getting Hanifin,and they cant retain 75 percent,but would 50 percent. dgibb just focus on Marky and you guys are legit,they can make the money work in the off season,and i promise Marky has two good yrs left.

Toffoli is a touch slow for this core. I’d prefer to sell him to a team that needs him more, move holtz up, and bring in a guy like Tatar again.

NJD needs another LD who can kill penalties and be an effective puck mover as well as defensively responsible.

Hanifin and Pettersson fit that mold. From there I'd see what the goalie market is like, whether it's a stopgap like Ned or Lyon or Stolarz or Allen, or a legit longer term option like Marky, jarry, Gustafsson, Ullmark, Knight...

Move Toffoli out to preserve some futures and give holtz a bigger opportunity.

Toffoli is good in the playoffs,and like i said your over valueing Holtz, his upside is on the 2nd line wing at best.he will never live up to were he was drafted.

The problem with unretained markstrom is he means we eat bonus overages next year. acquiring 2 mill hanifin this year doesn't do that.

Basically for us, Markstrom doesn't cost 6-6-6. He costs 6-8.5-6

ok you can move money around to make things work.the bottom line is you need a legit top end goalie like Marky or you have no chance.i watched the devils flames the other night.if you guys had marky in net and the flames had vanecek,the score is reversed and the devils win the game. the devils have some real nice pieces on defence,and with dougie back your set.Hanifin is a real stretch and its a 1st and Holtz for him.so were is your other 1st for Marky,the guy you actually need?
