Description
I know not all of these will/would happen, but hoping something like this for a handful of them.

Caps can also take on some bad contracts in order to get more picks back.

WSH
  1. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (EDM)
Détails additionnels:
This is just makes the most sense. EDM is stacked with elite offense, they need elite defense. Let Dowd carry that work of facing the other teams top talent. Dowd is getting a 1st yall, don't even argue it.
2.
WSH
  1. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (NJD)
Détails additionnels:
NJD desperately needs a goalie and they get one for the cheap that has 1 more year on his deal. They'd probably have to pay more because they are in the division and there could be a bidding war.
3.
WSH
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2025 (FLA)
Détails additionnels:
To any team needing a top 6 scorer. VGK makes the most sense but someone said he was pissed when they traded him.
FLA
  1. Pacioretty, Max (1 000 000 $ retained)
4.
WSH
  1. Choix de 3e ronde en 2025 (BOS)
Détails additionnels:
To any team needing a Cup experienced, physical D
5.
WSH
  1. Choix de 3e ronde en 2024 (NYI)
Détails additionnels:
Any team needing a reliable defensemen.
6.
WSH
  1. Kaliyev, Arthur
Détails additionnels:
This is more of a wishful thing. I know Kaliyev isn't working out in LA so they can swap him for a young, cheap middle 6 winger that's great defensively and very skilled offensively.
LAK
  1. Milano, Sonny
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2025 (FLA)
7.
WSH
  1. Choix de 5e ronde en 2024 (VGK)
Détails additionnels:
Anyone needing a good 4th liner
8.
WSH
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2026 (COL)
Détails additionnels:
This makes a lot of sense for COL who need top 6 help with Landy and possibly Nich out long term. Mantha is an analytical darling that's great at both ends of the ice. Fits COL well.
COL
  1. Mantha, Anthony (2 850 000 $ retained)
9.
WSH
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (OTT)
Détails additionnels:
Seen a lot of OTT fans trade for Jensen, it makes sense, they need good vet RHD.

Not really. It's really just the last 3 games. He was a .925 three games ago then he got rocked due to playing behind a bad team that's getting worse.

There’s no benefit of the doubt for a 30 year old goalie who’s been a mediocre AHLer for basically his entire career

There is. Goalies are voodoo. Lindgren is good on a cheap ass contract. Or you all can waste away Cup chance because you won't get a goalie. Maybe you can find a better one but their cap hit will be high. Point is Caps will get a 1st from someone.

I would be shocked if he got a 2nd. Goalies go hit and cold. But the track record says that Lindgren is cold a lot more than he is hot. Most of his career he’s been a sub .900 AHL goalie

Yes he's been one of the better goalies this season. The key is he has another year at a cheap hit. If this was his last season on this contract he's get a 2nd, but that extra year carries lots of value. Same reason Dowd will get a 1st.

Again I just don’t think teams will look at a guy who’s been bad since new years and bad most of his career and see that as a viable goalie option, let alone worth giving up a 1st for. Historically for a goalie to get a 1st he needs to be proven as a multi year legitimate quality starter option unless he’s like 24-25

If he wasn't cheap you'd have a point, but that cap hit carries huge value. We'll see what happens. Not even definite Caps trade him.

I don’t think a few months that he has now come back down from is enough to convince NHL GMs he’s not still what he’s been his entire career.

lol he's not coming down from anything. He had 3 straight games he got lit up and if scouts are watching they know it isn't his fault. It's a miracle he's put up the numbers he has behind that team.

Yeah welcome to playing on an old ass, injured teams. Like I said, scouts that watch will notice that. Before the last 3 games he was at something like +15 goal saved above expected, it was top 5 in the league.

His GSAx has been negative since the start of December. Again, very hot few games to start the year but nobody is paying for 6 good games when the sample size is a decade of bad play

Yeah they will especially since he's played way more than just 6 good games. He's good playing on a bad team getting paid peanuts. Professional scouts notice that kind of stuff. Like I said, we'll see what happens. Not entirely convinced Caps will trade him, even if they should. The longer they wait though I think he'll get a 2nd, not a 1st, which I would take as well.

He’s getting paid peanuts for a reason.

Historically guys viewed as backup goalies return little/nothing

But he's not a backup. He has a better GSAA/60 than Sorokin, Skinner, Oettenger, Saros, Georgiev, Vas, Sheshterkin, etc. Guess they are backups too?

Anyways, this is getting tiring. We'll see what happens. The longer Caps wait the lower the return will be so hope they do it soon.
