Description
This might be the year that St. Louis has the best chance of returning to cup contention. Many of the players would probably be getting bridge deals, but there is enough cap space left for the players that I lowballed. The team is young, but still has some veteran cup winners. This assumes the Blues pick up someone like Yakemchuk or Jiricek in 2024 draft. I am also assuming that any drafted in 2025 and on will most likely not be ready in 2028.

Here is the age breakdown:
Thomas 29
Kyrou 30
Snuggerud 24

Stenberg 23
Neighbours 26
Dvorsky 23

Bolduc 25
Dean 26
Buchnevich 33

Schenn 37 (Yikes)

Yakemchuk 22
Buchinger 24
Kessel 28
Perunovich 30
Parayko 35
Hanifin 32

Hofer 28
Zherenko 27

Ignore the trades and if you think there is someone more likely to be on the roster let me know.

Gets me excited just looking at at, personally hoping Doug trades up to nab Anton silayev. Sucks bunner doesn’t still got a place, but Colorado is probably the last place I would see him ending up after the whip Kadri situation. Thomas and Kyrou will still hopefully be tope line producers at that age, not sure if I’m willing to pay buchy 8.5 mil to take up space on the third line though. Otherwise looks good.

The trades aren't actually trades. They would let Binners contract expire. If he were willing to take a paycut and stay then that would be awesome. As for Buch I think he could still be a fringe top line/second line player at age 33. I just did this to balance lines. We should either trade him this season or give him a similar if not slightly less expensive deal than Kyrou and Thomas.

The key is set a precendent with how you give out contracts, so that hopefully people like Dvorsky and Snuggerud take similar contracts to Thomas and Kyrou. That would be a very team-friendly situation.

Yeah I gotcha, it’s just so hard to imagine Binner in another jersey. Buch has also always been a great 2 way winger and even after players like him age, they usually don’t loose that defensive edge to his game and that could be valuable, ecspecially while developing the snugs and dvorsky. Hopefully he could have an impact on how our younger guys play.

This was pretty much my exact line of thinking. I would try and sign Buch for as cheap as possible, but for some reason he doesn't strike me as a player is willing to take less than Kyrou and Thomas to stay in St. Louis. If we could 5 years x 8.125 mil, I would be happy sign that. Basically it comes down to making sure the term isn't long enough to mess up signing our next gen players.

That's alright because it wasn't trade. Just dumping players off the team since it is future roster.
