Description
Get the unproductive trash off the roster. Call up some guys who actually have skill. Sign Pulj. Swap Smith with Saad (no idea if St. Louis is interested, but the contract having 1 less year might be something useful to them). Bring in Duclair for more speed and some scoring ability. Now hope the goaltending continues to be good.

Smith and Saad swap has been floating around quite a bit on this site. I understand the logic and don't even really disagree with the trade. I just feel like two teams in wild card hunts aren't likely to make trade that is fairly lateral.

It's not likely, but it's one of the few fits for a Smith swap. He's gone ice cold here. Wasn't sure if the Pens are interested in moving him.

I mentioned this elsewhere but if I'm the Sharks I debate whether it makes sense to help the Pens unless it's an overpay. The Sharks have the Pens' 2024 1st (top 10 protected) and that draft pick moving later offsets the value of any trade with them.

That is a really good point. I didn't consider that at all. It doens't make any sense for them to do this. Crap.

Mostly to shake things up a bit for the stretch run. Smith has had some trouble finding his game the last month prior to injury.
