I think the Jets should get more creative with retention. Schmidt at 50% retained gives the Jets nearly the exact same cap hit next year vs a buyout. While retaining will cost you ~$200k next year in cap hit, it would save you a few mil in actual salary, plus $1.5M in cap hit in 2024-25. I think that Schmidt has played well enough that there would be a market for him at $2.9M on a one year deal. Even if the return for the Jets is 'Future Considerations', that's better than a buyout.

I’m a believer in Heinola his analytics in the ahl have been amazing and I love his poise would much rather him than Dillon next year. If Chevy decides to keep Chisholm over Heinola I don’t mind it either tho
