A 2nd for Carrier is still an overpay!

Carrier is more comparable to Desharnais than he is Ceci or Bouchard. Doesn't have the accumen to be a full-time top 4 on a contender IMO. 27yr old UFA depth rental for a 2nd? NOTY

Who would you target for a Ceci upgrade that you think would be an upgrade.

Moving Ceci is a tough decision. 15 game winning streak with him playing important mins.
I wouldn't want to disrupt the defense tbh. They're playing for each other and as someone who's extremely critical of defenses I think they should just add depth. Someone you can get relatively cheap who can step in a 3rd pairing role in a pinch. For that I'd just go later pick for a solid veteran. Prefer RD with Broberg being so close(I'd call him up for playoffs). Stecher? Miller?
If I'm spending the 2nd I'm thinking Walker or Tanev(with EDM likely adding). Won't know the real cost until the TDL

I get that argument. Don’t want to mess with a good thing. But when I watch the games I see room for improvement on this D core. Ceci just doesn’t bring enough offensive chops. Too many offensive cycles go to him for a point shot that never leads to anything. Just watch, he’ll get 2-3 opportunities to make something happen from the point and then… nothing happens.

I like Walker too. He can actually snipe goals in and make plays in the o zone with the puck on his stick. And I don’t think we lose much of his defence.

For a 7th defenceman, I’m okay with Broberg but a vet may be more appropriate.
