How could you possibly justify giving Bouchard less than Nurse?

Nurse logs the most minutes and is good defensively. Bouchard is great but he is not a top d-man like Nurse. If anything this was an expensive deal as Bouch only gets 4 years here

Bouchard is at a PPG right now he's the lowest contract in the top10 D points, I don't see him doing a medium type deal, I think it's much more likely he goes for the 8yr Makar-esque deal
I could be wrong but, unless the Edmonton boys (McDavid, Draisaitl etc) see what's happening in TO and say they want to take slightly more team friendly deals (Maybe Leon agrees to take 12.5 like Connor has now and Connor promises to only takes 250k over Matthews or whoever is the top contract is at that time), Bouchard will definitely take 10+mil

Unless Bouch becomes good defensively no way he is getting that! He is very good offensively but also gets boosted aswell. You cannot pay a d man 8-10m unless he either is E.Karlsson or can defens quite well. Bouch gotta show that first. Otherwise I would bridge 2x6.5 and then give the 8-10m deal

Yes you, emphasis on you, would give him a bridge but, are you willing to let him sit out or walk if he says ''f*** you I'm (potentially in 2yrs) the best offensive defenseman in the NHL and you need to pay me like so'' which I think based on almost every PPG defenseman ever can assume will happen
