Really? Nice to hear that I actually overpaid. I consistently hear about it taking a 1st + blue chip prospect + solid NHLer + another NHLer to land Tavares. I was a touch skeptical, but I do know it takes a whole lot.
My reasoning is that Pacioretty and Tavares are similar production-wise, but Tavares is in a highly coveted position so it took the addition of Shaw (with retention) and some middle picks.

I agree with what you said, and too add to your point, Pacioretty is an elite goal scorer, who comes really cheap. I mean how many consistent 30 goal scorers are there in the league, who are good on the pp, pk and can lead, while only making 4.5m. I mean that is a bargain for the Habs.
