To any team needing a highly skilled forward that should be moved to wing. A $4M 1 year bet seems perfectly safe for a late 2nd. If not a 3rd is fine.

I've seen this trade proposed a couple times by OTT fans. I think it works for both teams. Caps can add a little bit more if needed.

To a crazy desperate and not so smart team like EDM I can see them easily paying that price. But can move the 2nd to a 3rd or something.

He's been great this season. It's gamble by the Caps but could pay off huge.

"Crazy desperate"? They have almost the same record after 35 games as they've had in each of the past two seasons and, since the coaching change, Skinner has posted a sv% above .910 and their defensive game has solidified. The narrative you're operating off of is about 1.5 months outdated. As for "not so smart", despite their flaws, they've only ever traded a 1st in a deal for a top pairing Dman.

Since you're posting this on CF, you know full well that this is a place for bandying about ideas between fans. In other words, your audience is fans of NHL teams. Trying to justify a poor trade by saying "hehe Holland stupid" doesn't fly.

It actually does because Holland is stupid lol He has the 2 best players in the world and builds absolute **** around them. The fact McDavid doesn't have at least a couple of Cups so far shows how bad of a GM he is. He makes terrible trades and signings.

You can rely on a .895sv% Skinner all you want but it won't get you far in the playoffs.

By your logic, the trade could never happen because the Caps' GM is also an idiot. Lol nah. You adopting the mindset that because the GM of my team is (allegedly) stupid, you can't approach in good faith and instead fall back on the "your GM is stupid" argument. The real life GMs don't mean anything when we're using the 'Armchair GM' tool.

I'm sure we'd be much better off with a 30-yr old career tweener halo

It's not alleged, it's a fact. He's a terrible GM. If he was average the team would be making at least the conference finals every season, but alas he hands out crap contracts and makes bad decisiosn.

I'm fine keeping our "tweener" who is in tops of the leagues of goaltending stats. You can stick with your sub .900sv% goalie. Good luck in the playoffs!
