Theme: One more year of true patience. The last year of the 1 year stop gap before more forward prospects start taking full-time roles.
No trades shown - incredibly unlikely but so is all of this anyways. Also, assuming no Celebrini or 2024 Draft Pick in this lineup for now.
RFA's:
- Vlasic signs to a long term deal now at 4.5MM x 7 - comparison is Mattias Samuelsson.
- Sign Reichel to 3MM x 1. One year deal before looking long-term. Slight overpay for goodwill.
- Raddysh gets 2.5MM x 2. Just a guy for now.
- Really a pick two of Guttman, Katchouk, Joey Anderson and Reese Johnson. Went with Katchouk and Anderson with Guttman in the AHL. Love Reese but can let him walk.
New UFA's:
- Sign Eberle to a 1 year deal, paying over market value at 7MM. Taylor Hall's buddy.
- Can't Seen CHI shelling out the dough for Nylander at this stage of the rebuild, nor him signing with CHI without an overpay. Can't see Reinhart signing up for more years of losing after winning in FL post-BUF. Would love a 9MM x 4/5 with him but for now not showing it.
- Sign Domi 3.5MM x 1. Was looking for another Top 6 Temporary Piece. Was previously productive with Reichel and Kurashev and is a Center.
Resigned UFA's:
- Resign Foligno with a slight pay bump to continue being a leader and he's played well. Valued.
- Resign Mrazek to 4MM x 1 as there isn't truly a better option out there for the role needed.
- Resign Dickinson 2.65MM x 2. He's played well, versatile bottom-6 identity vet.
Prospect Note:
Decided to keep Nazar in the AHL along with Colton Dach, Ludwinski, Hayes etc to start the year. Get some time down there to develop. Could sell some pieces at the deadline and bring up some guys after because there will be actual pieces worth bringing up at forward and the next wave can begin to file into longer-term pieces.
Line Thoughts:
F1: Slot Bedard in between two skilled vets with chemistry already.
F2: Line had offensive success previously. Kurashev and Reichel play well together.
F3: Big Vet Checking Line.
F4: Donato and Entwistle have been solid this year. Athanasiou has to play somewhere.
Scratched: Katchouk and Anderson.
D1: I like Vlasic with Jones.
D2: I like Korchinski with Murphy for balance.
D3: Kaiser likely is the guy for this spot for now, for next year at least. Crevier has been impressive so far in a couple games. If he underperforms this season after his good start, maybe look for a 1 year vet to hold it down.
Scratched: Phillips. I don't want another Tinordi or Zaitsev again, they won't all be rookies next year and need looks.
