This is a deal that ONLY makes sense for DET any other team, this is a clear and obvious no.
With about $10 mill of deadline cap space, this $2.75 will get prorated and eat into that only by as little bit - leaving them room to go get defensive help they desperately need. They also don't have a lot of Stanley Cup experience in the room with their current roster. Only Perron and Compher have cups under their belt and neither of them were real drivers of their cup winning teams.

Best Case: Kane has fumes left in the tank, provides a little spark for them this year, and helps inforce what it takes for a work ethic onto guys like Raymond, Seider , etc. They continue to contend, make the playoffs for the first time in years and maybe win a round. --- worth $2.75 million prorated

Worst Case: kane has nothing left in the tank, gets on the ice and can barely move, and within 4 wks DET knows they're going to put him on LTIR and can still adapt in time for the trade deadline.

Niether of these are bad options for DET with where they are right now.
