He is still owed over 14 mil actual salary, that’s easily a 1st, I would offer Sturm back as a cap saving move without hurting your production! And that would give you 1.6 in cap savings to put towards Kane or picking up some help.

The value isn't bad, his contract is terrible. But I think the Rangers would rather just buy him out than give up a 1st to get rid of him. He has a good buyout.
