If you're trading away all our D-men, it should be because our prospects are ready for NHL duty. Trading Gunnarsson and Bouw now doesn't make any sense, regardless of the cap savings. Edmundson isn't a top pairing D-man now, and really only has the potential to be a low-to-mid-tier top-4 guy. McNabb might be a slight improvement over Gunnarsson. As for the forwards, I don't really get what Cody Eakin brings to the table that we don't already have internally. He's signed for 3 years, and Tage Thompson likely would be ready for third-line center duties in 2 years.
