Different. Well thought out. Team most kept intact, especially top guys. Back up goaltender-- check, most people forget this position. I don't love the Moore signing but considering Bonino is coming back then overall it's a great fit. I think you have room to cancel Lovejoy trade and simply re-sign Daley if you wanted.

See your point on Daley. The trade moving TK was more just that there is no room left for him really on either wing and moving him to NJ as part of the Lovejoy trade gets them a player they well know and wanted to keep before he left, just couldn't make his #'s work at the time (kinda like Engo,. I remember my first thought when he signed with Calgary. I was like "Good for him but hell's no"). He was the odd man out before adding Reaves and is really exasperated with his addition. The Moore signing is about the closest I could really find to replacing Cullen talent/speed/cap wise but if he has another round in him would be very happy to see him back. Thanks for the input.

I like Moore as a potential replacement for Cullen, but the rest seems a bit off.

Why trade assets for Lovejoy? They decided to let him walk rather then pay him his current contract and there are guys in free agency they could get to fill the spot if you don't sign Daley back.

You traded for Stoner, but don't have him playing. Instead you signed B. Smith and have him playing, Those moves cut super close to the cap with players coming up next yet too.

I don't think the Buffalo deal would require so much. Is Guhle that highly touted after just 9 pro games split between AHL and NHL? I like Foligno, but not at that cost.

I also think Schultz will end up more like $5-5.5 mil per.

TK and Simon (Simon probably never really did) really have no chance with the team anymore so trading them for a 5-7 D with a reasonable salary and fits the mold they are playing while upgrading their 2nd round pick.

Trading for Stoner at a cheaper salary/shorter term than Hag's gives them some breathing room with the cap this year and going forward even with sending him to the minors. Vegas needs to move some D and they could easily flip Hag's for a 2nd or 3rd depending on much much salary they are willing to retain or play the guy. He's not a bad player, just not a player the Pen's can afford to pay 4 mill a year. Stoner is a UFA next year and this years signings/current deals only leaves Cole (end of this season) and Lovejoy (end of next season) needing deals which can be filled within the system if need be. Letang, Dumo, Shultz and Smith would all be signed for at least 3 years keeping with the realistic Cup window given the age of their core.

The Buffalo deal nets them a decent prospect In Guhle, an upgrade from a late 3rd to an early to mid 2nd round pick while shedding a D that just isn't quick enough for the system they play. He's not bad by any means but just not what they could better utilize the 4 or so mill in a guy like Smith. They also pick up an young affordable LW which the team is lacking in shy of JG long term. As many time as I have cheered Sheary on, 2-3 mill for a guy who's points are totally predicated on playing next to Sid is a waste of cap space when you can pay the same amount for a guy that plays a more physical game, would replace Hag's PK duties, isn't a lumbering hulk by any means and can still put up decent points for a 3rd line winger

If Shultz was an UFA, I would totally agree with you and if he stands pat on that, trade his rights the 2nd time they counter-offer past that 4.5 mill per. Plenty of teams would be more than willing to give up a small fortune for him while we know that even though he put up some very nice points, he still plays in a fairly protected role within the system and would certainly wind up as some other teams buyers remorse if they try to run him as a #1 D which that 5-5.5 mill a years would indicate.
