Description

Bruins approach the NHL draft with 1 thing in mind and that’s to unload players for players that cost them no cap and help them in the future. Don Sweeney and Kyle Dubas have had several talks this week about Ullmark and Grzelyck however he felt he would be helping them by taking those two on before Hall was traded. Now he sees the biggest opportunity to help his team win but he will wait until the last minute to pull the trigger. Bertuzzi doesn’t sign until 6m+ cap gets moved out of Boston but he already has a contact for 8x5.75. If BERGERON AND KRECJI CHOSE TO COMEBACK they send down two forwards pretty easy going that. Look out for Blake Wheeler too. If he’s bought out I’d expect him to have interest in circling back to Boston. But for now this is how it looks to be. Believe Bruins are high on. Oliver Moore, Zach Benson, Brayden Yager, and Otto Stenberg are the main 4 players they’re watching out for.

Why Pens do this trade

Penguins are in win now mode with 1 year left on Jake Guentzels contract and all Malkin, Crosby and Leteng having the last few years in their careers. Ulmark is a terrific goalie even had good numbers while being on Buffalo through their bad days… Grzelyck is able of playing top minutes on the back end and fits Penguins game strong with his puck moving and great gap control game. Penguins look to extend Grzelyck right away too.

Why Boston does this

Bruins have a great goalie tandem in Swayman and Bussi. If Bussi doesn’t turn out they have Keyser and Dipietro that could come up as well. Bruins have Lindholm and Forbort already locked in with Zboril getting a look this year and it’s believed OEL will sign a “prove me deal”. A top 15 pick this year could land the Bruins an excellent piece going forwards with this core who should be NHL ready in 2 years or so

I can't see Pittsburgh trading their "top 3 prospects" for those 2 players. Dubas already said that he's willing to take players from teams trying to free up cap space, but he's not going to just take them for nothing... especially from someone in the conference. He should make Boston "pay" for taking on that much salary (even though both players are needed in the Pen's lineup.)

I get what you’re saying. Whether Dubas helps Boston out by doing this trade doesn’t change the fact that this trade is for Pittsburg to be BETTER and have a better chance at WINNING. This is about being the best and this helps Pittsburg get closer to the best mark.
