Description
It’s now or never with this team. If this team can’t win a cup, then it’s time to blow it all up. Conor Hellebuyck is a superstar goalie, I would argue that he has been the best goalie of the last 5 years, if you consider what team he’s played on. With a superstar goalie. This team would be unstoppable. I have no doubt this team would have 60+ wins with Hellebuyck. This team would win the cup without ever playing a game 7. Anyone who thinks otherwise has not seen what Hellebuyck is capable of. Goaltending is the most important position. Having a great goalie not only results in less goals against. It also leads to more goals for, because a timely save can always shift the momentum, and make the team push harder. It’s evident, and it’s no secret that teams with less Shots on Goals have a higher winning percentage, I think that statistic alone is reflective on how important it is to have an elite goaltender. Above all else. Goalies steal games, goalies steal series. There is no question about it. Leafs should push all their chips forward to getting Hellebuyck. Even if it’s only for one season. Hellebuyck having a 920 SV% on a team like Winnipeg! Just imagine what he is capable of on a team like Toronto!

What on earth are you talking about. This trade is an easy yes for Cheveldayoff. This team is literally OP, and easily the best and most realistic Armchair GM roster on this site by far. How about some damn acknowledgement for once?

Funny how you get 20+ comments whenever you make a bad team, but when you make a flawless team like this one. One that is within grasps. Zero comments, but then there still has to be at least one dude that slides into the comment board spewing utter nonesense.

We both know 2 first rounders, Samsanov, and Robertson is one hell of an offer for one year of Hellebuyck. Samsanov is an RFA. That alone makes the deal worth looking at for Winnipeg. Then you have 3 years of a defensemen that can play top four minutes as well.

Yeah the Leafs can’t and won’t Re-sign him. Joseph Woll is Toronto’s future goalie. Hellebuyck is a rental. In case you don’t know what a rental is. It’s when a playoff team trades for a player on an expiring contract with the hopes of that player helping their post-season run.

Hahahahahaha. I see one first rounder 2024, a guy who is consistently injured, an RFA goalie and a defensemen.

Incredibly bad and then on top of that 3 mil in retention. Plus it’s the leafs so there’s a good chance that will be a very late first rounder because despite failure in the playoffs, very good regular season team.

It’s 1 season of Hellebuyck as a UFA. 1 season. Not 5, not 4, not 3, not 2, just 1. Not only that, but Hellebuyck has made it clear that he has no interest in being part of the Jets team going forward. The only way Cheveldayoff says no to this deal is if some team gives him a better offer. Which could happen but not likely. Considering how most of these playoff teams have their goaltending situation already figured out. There’s only a small handful of teams that would be willing to give up this much for a rental Conor Hellebuyck. It certainly won’t be Buffalo, they’re not even at a playoff contending level yet.

That RFA goalie alone, makes the trade worthwhile. That piece alone. Samsanov is no slouch, he’s a great starter. The Leafs are more likely than not to keep him, the trade would look really bad for Toronto unless they win a Stanley Cup.
