Kulak was arguably their most consistent defenseman not named Bouchard. Trading him makes the D core worse.

overpay for kostin his QO IS only 785K paying over 1M for 4th liner/13th F makes no sense

Cody ceci needs to go he was 1GF-7GA vs vegas and killed this team at 5v5

overpay for mcleod unless you sign him for 4-5 years his QO is only 837K

overpay for bjugstad I wouldn't go over 1.25M for him

kailer yamamoto does not have that kind of value

bridging Bouchard would be a mistake bc he would just price himself out of edmonton if he continues to produce the way he did this playoffs and we would run into another nurse dilemma where he is in his prime and demands to be paid or he's gone

we really need to find a way to keep kulak, he was one of our better defenders all playoffs

I agree with all of this, except bridging Bouchard. I think bridging him is the only way they keep their window open for the duration of Drai/McDavid's current contracts. Kick the can down the road, because down the road Drai and McDavid might move on.

Frank seravalli on ON everyday suggested the NHL salary cap could go up 3-4M next season, try to trade campbell down the line and have rodrigue or fanti to take over as backup for cheap and boom you have enough room to re-sign drai in 24-25 and Kane's 5M comes off the books same year as mcdavid so that money goes to him in 25-26 then you keep reloading with youngsters on ELC's and Vets on 1yr "show me" deals like brown and pacioretty

That's interesting cause Friedman said he wouldn't bet on it going up more than $1M based on the teams making deep playoff runs. Not even trying to be an ass, I listen to both guys, just crazy how unpredictable it is. It's sad considering the massive TV deal they signed. $400M a year isn't it? Can't afford more than $1M a year to 32 teams? It's a joke.

yeah bettman needs to go it's been long over due, He's constantly getting bent over by Owners and It's embarrassing that most of the states ppl don't even know who McDavid is and how much ARIZ bleeds money from the league, I also heard reports that said the Sens owed up to as much as 450M in bills at one point which is why the melnyk sisters are selling, after the purchase that Dept will be wiped (is what i heard) if the sens bleed money imagine how many more markets are bc or poor marketing and advertisement

It's absurd that a team in this league with the profit sharing it has established could bleed that much money. Just shows how behind the rest of the leagues the NHL is.
