If sharks pick up a regressing player with an elevated salary I assume it would be for a few picks with at least 1 being a 1st. This doesn’t really fit a need in any way to be fair. Doubt it happens.

I imagine if the caps retained some salary, Mantha could be an interesting player to take a flyer on. He might have struggled due to coaching. If he rebounds in any way he's on an expiring and could be flipped for more assets at the deadline.
