This is probably the best and most level-headed rangers armchair gm I've seen. Only real question is why are we bringing back Marc Staal instead of a different/slightly cheaper 6D. You aren't as close to the cap as you think you are because it is going up 1mm so it will actually be 83.5mm. Subtract Staal's 1.225mm give Mikkola 2.2mm.

this is a great point i just love mark staal, an old friend of the organization . but there are totally some good options other than staal. i would be happy to see mikkola back at ~2.2 mil. will do a team with the cap being 83.5 soon.
