Jarnkrok cannot be protected and is likely to be picked in expansion. Fills our 4th line centre/future 3rd line centre. He is defensive but can add 30+ points. In return we give NSH a young exempt winger in Soshnikov who would fit well into their program due to his speed and energy. We add a 2nd round pick becuase i'm sure there will be many team bidding for Jarnkrok.

Florida is in a similar situation at risk of losing a good young defensemen. Leafs get Petrovic, young, big right shot D who puts defense first. Ideal partner for Reilly, to let him do his thing. We give up Valiev and Johnsson who are both exempt and young prospects who at this point are long shots/depth pieces...add a 4th to sweeten the pot.

Due to the fact we would have to protect Petrovic and would loose Carrick, we cut a deal with VGK for Carrick. The idea is we don't trade/shop him before the expansion but in return we get a 3rd round pick. I think thats a little under market value, but therefore don't lose anyone else.
