Sabres GM had a press conference today saying they won't move futures for a short term impact, and that they are exploring depth defenseman.

But for the value Buffalo is sending that's a huge over payment for a rental. Buffalo isn't winning the cup this year. And Kane took a huge step back in play this year. Starting to feel like Chicago might at best get a 1st for him.

What makes you think Kane is a rental? His from Buffalo, sign cheapish after this season. Could be a great 50-60+ point guy in the middle 6, or even top line. Kane is not done, he just has nothing at all to work with right now in Chicago. Put Kane with TT and Skinner...

And that's not really an over payment. I still think Kane, if moved, will go for far more than what Tarasenko got.

Kane is injured and stats are horrible. He’s not going to get traded by Chicago.

Kane will be 35 next season. So that is very much a short term move. His advanced metrics have been in decline the last 2 years and took a nose dive this year. He cant drive offense or play defense. Tarasenko is a better hockey player currently that's why the rangers paid that price rather then trade for Kane. Also Kane has a bad hip which is scaring the few teams away.

Kane might be from Buffalo but it doesn't mean the fan base wants him.

Kane; hip injury and all; playing on a worse team has produced at the same rate as Tarasenko.

Tarasenko is better than Kane right now. I don’t see Kane traded his hip injury will scare teams away.

In what way? Production wise the numbers don’t support that claim, especially considering Tarasenko had higher quality teammates to play with.
