I’m sure I’ll get roasted but Sabres fans over this, but here goes.
I’ll start by saying this…
Buffalo has a plethora of young talent in their lineup, with more on the way. You can’t guarantee all the prospects will hit, and stick in the NHL, and you can fit them all into a lineup. Soooo, let’s trade them.
Arizona is asking the world for Chychrun, and doesn’t seem to be coming off their asking price. A payment of Krebs, Kulich and a 1st would probably get it done. Solidifying the back end for quite some time, even with Dahlin and Power being up for contract after this year. A VERY nice looking top 4!
As a Canucks fan I would hate to see Demko go, but seeing as we are once again “retooling” he might just become a casualty. Getting a young goalie in return would be a must in a Demko trade, and seeing as UPL has/is playing NHL games, I chose him. Having Demko locked up for a few more years gives Levi and Portillo time to refine their games before making the jump. Not sure what Buffalos plans are for their goalies, maybe swapping UPL for one of the others I mentioned, but I have no clue. On top of that, Vancouver gets a very nice prospect in Östlund, and a RHD which they so desperately need.
Plenty of money to fill in the bottom 6, and anywhere else that needs strengthening, as well as prospects still left in the cupboard. I think trades like these are something Buffalo should/could start looking into if they’re wanting to take that next step. As I said in the beginning, you can’t fit all those young players into a lineup, so you just might have to move some.
Sabres say no to both, too much for an unnecessary chychrun move and definitely way too much for demko who hasn't looked like himself since getting injured.
Chychrun is unnecessary because of the asking price and what we currently have in the top 4 is already good enough and it's just going to get better. He's also another LHD which the sabres don't need. Kulich will be a stud next year, Krebs has excelled with learning from Okposo and girgs, and Sabres aren't trading an unprotected 23 first
UPL has been playing very well and giving the sabres a chance to win almost every game he plays. Joker has been really solid recently with power (power is turning into a hard carry for anyone who is paired with him).
Demko is not needed at all. Sabres have 2 goalies in top 25 already.
What is their NHL timeline? I’ve seen nothing but great things about both, but would a season or two in the AHL not be more beneficial? How I look at it is they both can go to the AHL next year, and fine tune their game.

Good hockey players but giving up way to much for the needs of the club. Chychrun is a good hockey player but no way would I give that up for him. And Demko isn't needed anymore.

Anderson will retire at the end of the season. UPL is playing great.
I would rather see what UPL becomes than move a ton of assets to gamble on Demko, Demko is at best just an above average goalie anyway. Also Kulich is untouchable
