Without making any ridiculous trades, this is how Oilers will likely have to navigate Kane's return
- Foegele waived (if you are a twitter user and follow Ethan Bear Oilers fans you will hear about this for WEEKS but it is is the right choice, been severely outplayed by both Kostin & Janmark and will likely get dumped for salary reasonings if Oil make a deadline splash)
- Shore waived (No reason not to waive Shore, has no redeeming qualities to bring to the team)
- Desharnais to AHL (He's been great thus far, but I'm pretty sure the call up for the California road trip was a trial, will go back down to AHL and flesh out his game)
- Murray to LTIR (Saves cap space, regular IR takes up cap room)
Line combinations:
- Top 6 could likely be tweaked, no sense splitting up Klim / RNH / Janmark, Kane goes line 4 as the Oilers go 11/7, will likely play limited minutes for the first handful games, plot McDavid and/or Draisaitl in between him and Puljujavi
Future trades:
- I can see the Oilers looking to dump Puljujarvi by the trade deadline, in order to have some cap flexibility, that in addition to Foegele going the other way in an inevitable defense trade. While I think Broberg has been looking great as of late, if we're aiming high for a Chychurn for example, he'd unfortunately be going the other way.
