Description

So my thinking is that NYI will get a quality scoring winger, a NHL ready Winger that has the potential to be a top 6 and a solid 3rd pair/depth dman and a 1st for a Quality Shutdown dman that solidifies the top 4, A versital forward that could be a perfect complement to Matthews/Nylander and a cap dump for 1 year to free up cap space.

Why would the team trade for Halak then bury him? He's so much better than McElhinney. Also, Nielsen is nowhere near ready. He's put up points, but defensively he isn't there. They'd be better off not making that trade.

I just buried him as a worst case but If that's your only issues and Lou and co agree with you than Halak can be our #2 and either another prospect plays on the 3rd pair or bring in a low cost FA. But burying a player from a trade when the leafs have deep pockets will not deter them if the trade helps long term.
