Red Wings decline. Taking on way to much money just to get Trouba. I would rather they draft a defenseman with the ninth pick and develop.

Way to much

As a Jets fan, they could do worse for Trouba. With the retentions of salary the deal is a little better except that you've lost a #1 D and a versatile C and replaced them with a backup goalie and a 2-3 LHD. At least they don't make much but if the Jets are going to trade Trouba, I'd rather them go big game fishing and go get Drouin, Duchene, or Mckinnon as those guys at least have value compared to Dekayser and Howard though I suppose the real value is in the #9 and Tatar. Tough sell but I'd be on board.

Get real so we retain $2 million on DeKeyser+$2.5 million on Howard+Tatar's RFA rights+9th OA pick for Trouba+Hutchinson+Copp no way Winnipeg would need to send their #13 pick to Detroit Detroit is easily giving up far too much here. And zero chance that Cody Glass is available at the #9 pick he will be long gone before then unless Heiskanen, Makar and Liljegren go top 8 and maybe Pettersson goes top 8 and then maybe Glass might be available.

Price is too high for Trouba+4th line center+backup goalie. Pass.
