It should be obvious, but here you go. First, Kane would be a 1 year rental, so no chance the Rangers give up a 21 year old with tons of potential plus another 1st round pick and 2, second round picks. Second, they don't have the cap space, even with retention. They are much better off keeping Kakko and their draft picks and using what little cap room they have left on signing Motte. NO THANKS TO A KANE RENTAL.

No one ever won a Stanley Cup by playing it safe. Kane is a "rental" that could help bring the Cup back to the Garden. Also, nothing is for certain that Kane won't resign with the NYRs either. Kane right now is far superior to KK & the draft picks. But that's the sacrifice you take when reaching for glory.

And how does Kane sign a new deal with the Rangers? Is he going to sign at league min? They have to sign Laffy and K'Andre Miller after this season and will have a tough time doing that without adding in Kane, so you have no idea what you're talking about when you say he could sign a new deal. Bottom line is the trade NEVER happens.
