That's a lot of assets to give up for 1 year of Patrick Kane with no guarantee he'll even be in range for an extension if he's playing next to Matthews and Marner. Beating a dead horse but Nylander's contract is one of the best values on the team when he produces.

Kane isn’t worth that haul, even with half retained. I don’t even think the Leafs do it if you remove the 1st, IMO.
